I have one on my route. A golden retriever named Buck. His owner (sweet lady) walks every day with him, and he holds his own leash.
Pee on a flower, pick up the leash, and on to the next one.
Extremely amusing!šŸ˜‚

Funny, I had a Golden Retriever named Buck, and all my Golden Retrievers,(50 years worth) have held their leashes while on walks.!

I love these animal stories. I had a full grown Boxer join me on my walking Mail route and was there every day for the 2 years I was on that route and would bark and growl at the other dogs that threatened me. He followed me back to the Post Office one day and came inside and the Postmaster told me to get that dog out of the building and I told him to leave the dog alone, Iā€™m teaching him to case Mail. He never said another word about it. I never knew who owned the dog but he was there every day and my relief carrier said he never saw him. Dog biscuits were his only reward. I would have gladly paid him.

I would imagine you see quite a few amusing things on your route, and some that are not so amusing.
