The GOP has apparently scrubbed a benefit to diabetics from the Inflation Reduction Act.

Why?

GOP cannot scrub anything, but only ask for amendments. Where did you read that?

I'd like to hear the other side. Its been my experience with these bills, there's always a "catch-22". Got to hear both sides.

The GOP claims they included it in an amendment which was blocked by the dems. The dems then did something for it which would violate the Byrd rule, which I don't understand.

It is included in Medicare but not private insurance.

This kind of political gaming is not beneficial to the people these laws effect. And then they use it as a political lie.

It has something to do with what can and cannot be in a reconciliation bill but has to be treated separately.

I cannot ignore this one because my Son has been Insulin dependent for many years. Under Trump it was costing him (his share after Insurance) about $65 for a refill. Shortly after Biden took over he went for a refill and was told that his share was now FIVE HUNDRED dollars and the druggist told him in plain simple language that Biden had done it. I do not understand how and do not know why the GOP did not instantly file an action, but my Son and his Doctors had to scramble to find a different type that was much cheaper, but he had serious problems adjusting to it. So don't EVER preach to us about the value of Government run health care.

When the dems blocked the amendment containing the insulin cap, they knew it would violate the Byrd rule when put forward and that it would need the 60 v**e push to pass. It did not. The dems planned it so they could lie and say the GOP just blocked it, Willie Nillie.

The Byrd Rule is a United States Senate rule that amends the Congressional Budget Act of 1974 to allow Senators during the Reconciliation Process to block legislation if it possibly would increase significantly the federal deficit beyond a ten-year term or is otherwise an "extraneous matter" as set forth in the Budget Act. It is named after West Virginia Senator Robert Byrd.

In Canada it's about $20/unit and that is gov run Healthcare. The problem as I'm seeing it here is politics between rival parties who don't give a schitt about those effected by their childish antics.

It's different in this case but I'm sure that goes on 90% of the time. Childish political BS.

It would hurt the exorbitant amount of profit they’ve been giving to their shareholders and CEOs .
They have no care that’s a live saving medication , they only care about the profit.
As a life saving medication the obvious capitalistic move would be to Raise the price of insulin because of the value of its lifesaving capabilities.
They’re called
Republicans !!!!!
Teapublitarians !!!!
