I decided that very thing on the same post, I bet. Now what do you do with something like that.

I was born in Appalachia. When we moved (3rd grade), I found that the students in the brand new, progressive, modern, huge amounts of money spent on each individual were months behind me, which was amusing, coming, as I did, from a "disadvantaged" Appalachian background with a school system considered outmoded by decades of "progress." My parents were told that my reading sk**ls were on a level with their 7th graders. Note: I am not some sort of prodigy. I was not at the top of my class (although close to it) at my previous supposedly Neolithic educational facility.

I understand what you are saying; however, have some concern Hora could be one of those individuals from VERY deep in the (not meant derogatorily but t***hfully) "hollows" where survival and privation were very real and education not on the list. My southern background places me somewhat close to the area.

You know I have no issue with taking individuals to task. This may be an instance where responding at the appropriate level may work. This person does not understand our positions. Further thoughts?

You need to track back through comments to understand what "jack" and I are posting about.

There are several comments from an individual by the nome due plume of hora. We have been trying to determine an approach to total incoherence of writing. The individual so poorly interpreted some of our comments as to call us....insert HUGE SHUTTER...Democrats. Long version short, led us to Appalachia, education, etc. discussion.

If we may return to the original topic, may I postulate that these prolonged strikes, with non-specific grievances and demands, are reminiscent of "Occupy This and That." I would suggest to the participants of this poorly planned and ill-advised activity that their "Occupy Wal Mart" will almost certainly be followed by "Occupy Unemployed."

I am still shuttering from the first phrase in your second paragraph. :-(

I believe it to be true from what I have read of working conditions at the time and what the Unions accomplished. But like all good things, corruption eventually creeps in and takes over. I am surprised that this country has lasted as long as it has considering the corruption that has insinuated itself into the government and the bureaucracies.

My esteemed and venerated confederate it was not a disagreement of your point. It was a shuddering (finally overcame Apple spell check one time) of the written phraseology.

I continue to "herd cats" and have not the patience to debate with those who would explain to me how Right to Work States compared to (shudder) AFL-CIO States harm "workers". Are there enough hours or spaces available to do that comparison with the benighted?

:D

May I postulate that when interviewed by the media, which will most assuredly happen, it will be Darth(Wal)Vader(Mart) who is at fault for their unemployment.

My mother use to have a statement concerning major projects, "Where to begin to commence to start to accomplish." Seems applicable in this instance.

Walmart is located in a small town. If Walmart wanted more land, they would try to buy it.

If landowners refused to sell, Walmart could try to get the government to seize the land with eminent domain.

If the government refused to help Walmart, would Walmart hire mercenaries to k**l the landowners or would Walmart fear having a public relations disaster?
