California is banning construction of new gas stations.....

So.... shoving this down our throats is how it's going to be??? What else is new with the left? They can't get anything done by consensus of the people (how it SHOULD be) so they just tell us to stuff it. Will Biden give me the money for my brand new (because buying a used EV is stupid) electric car? How about a new $8,000 battery when it dies in a couple of years?.

I bet this is another one of those colossal failures from Newsome. We are NOT ready to do this!!!

https://www.dailywire.com/news/california-cities-ban-new-gas-stations-even-as-price-tops-6-per-gallon

"Officials of a Sonoma County city north of San Francisco were the first in the game when they stopped the development of a gas station there last year. “We didn’t know what we were doing, actually,” Petaluma Councilwoman D’Lynda Fischer told Yahoo News. “We didn’t know we were the first in the world when we banned gas stations.”

Since that decision, four other cities in the Bay Area have done the same.

The average price per gallon in California is now $6.06, according to AAA. In one county, the price is $7.11.

The movement is now making its way to Los Angeles, with 13 million residents in the city and surrounding area. The city has already been slow to grant new stations, approving one to two new stations per year from 2016 to 2021, excluding 2017, Yahoo reported.

L.A. Councilmember Paul Koretz (D) has put forward a proposal to stop new stations there. “We are ending oil drilling in Los Angeles. We are moving to all-electric new construction. And we are building toward f****l f**l free t***sportation. Our great and influential city, which grew up around the automobile, is the perfect place to figure out how to move off the gas-powered car,” he said.

A group called Safe Cities is heading up the campaign, backed by the environmental group Stand.earth, which is also pushing an end to f****l f**ls.

“A new report from SAFE Cities at Stand.earth and partners CONGAS, Coltura, and Elected Officials to Protect America shows how gas stations pose numerous health, environmental, equity, and financial risks to communities,” Stand.earth said in a statement last month. “Given the rapid growth in vehicle electrification and developments like the Biden Administration’s announcement to make EV charging accessible across the US, the risks can no longer be justified.”

The group cited Fischer, who said: “We are not surprised that many cities are following our lead to prohibit the development of new gas stations. We have an obligation to stop f****l f**l expansion and new gas stations lock communities into many kinds of risks. This is one of many steps Petaluma is taking. We are proud to be part of this growing movement to stop f****l f**l expansion and phase out f****l f**ls.”

I think so, too. It's way too early to start this! This will now become the "thing" in Democrat states and cities all over the country.... most regular working middle class people can't afford to just run out and buy a $60K car.

Isn’t it the Democrats that say they are for poor folks and middle class? The premature move to Electric Vehicles will (like what they are trying to do) totally bankrupt the middle class in short order. There won’t be the older cars for sale for the people that can’t afford an EV. BTW even if you can afford an EV right now there are none available. The Nissan store had one but of course it was already sold. I ask him when they would be getting more he told me they got 4 to 6 EVs a Year! That won’t change for a long time. Also you have to purchase the charging station that would be $2000 to. $3000 dollars more. There are so many problems with government forced switching to EVs. It is actually scary to me that we have people in government that are so ignorant that they believe this switch needs to be made. It is not going to solve any problems but it will create many new ones.

If someone wants to build a gas station, that is a lot of money and I'm sure they looked into the needs for a gas station. So let them build it and a hundred years from now when electric cars become reasonable and reasonably priced he can phase out gas stations and install charging stations with a two hour waiting room complete with a waiting room lounge were they can take a two hour nap while waiting for a charge.
Stupid is as stupid does.
Let the market decide.

Phasing in and phasing out doesn't seem to interest Biden - or any of the Democrats in Congress. That would be the logical way to do this, but Noooo, the Dems have to force it on us without our input - like Obamacare and the toxic "v*****e". IMO, this will backfire.....like so many lame-brained decisions they make.

California can't keep their lights on or air conditioning running, and they want to prohibit the development of new gas stations so people will be forced to buy electric vehicles? K**l the competition that way and they might have to pay $10/gal for gas I suppose. You can't fix stupid.
