Here's the plan. Give large vouchers for private schools, and once public schools are defunded and close up. The Republicans will reduce and remove the vouchers. The middle class and poor are stuck without public school and the wealthy are not having to pay taxes for the poors education. Which is the goal and has been for decades.

I accidentally reposed this comment.

Excellent post and SO TRUE! I attended p9ublic schools throughout the 50's and 60's and then, there was no anti-American indoctrination. HOWEVER, many of the current public schools, especially those in Democratically controlled cities and states have become cess pools ofi anti-American hatred, pro-atheism, anti any kind of moral compass to the point that many of our nation's children are confused about many basic things including what g****r they are. The ONLY logical response to this is vouchers, to allow poorer students into private schools where there are taught that 2 +2 = 4 and not wh**ever their whim of the day tells them it is. In many cases, home schooling is even better (Abraham Lincoln was home schooled with the use a Bible and see where that got him).
Our public education system is failing and there are alternatives.. Iliamna

Welcome cbarriere. Great post. I too attended school in the 50s-60s and there wasn't this Marxist nonsense taught. In fact we were warned about it.

I think it was in the 50's that the mantra, "Better dead than red" became popular.
I was in public school during the 40's & 50's.

Ah, they've been trying to k**l public education for decades. What they don't understand is that private schools have the same 'choice' that they will so why do they think their backward knuckle-d**gging children will be among those chosen to attend their schools? Vouchers mean nothing if there are no schools for their children to attend!

You are correct, the department of education and teachers unions are fighting against charter schools tooth and nail. Ask yourself why? Could it be because school choice would mean an end to their monopoly and indoctrination?

I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you, and the Ivey league philosophers opinion on this matter.

I am a native of the great state of Arizona, and will tell you, from first hand experience, that you're wrong. The way it works is the education $ follow the student. So l I pulled my son out of his "A+" school, which my sister has taught at for 27 years, and sent him to great hearts charter school. He was in 3rd grade last year and had to write a research paper, my 16 year old daughter was in 10th grade last year-at an A+ rated school- and had to write 1 research paper as well.

You will have good and bad charter schools, but parents will figure it out. They are OUR children and we will do what's best for them.

This program costs parents nothing, and only takes power from the teachers unions. It's a win win.

As far as $ being given to parents to home school THEIR children...this only came about after the draconian lockdowns and parents becoming aware of the garbage being "taught" to THEIR children.

I do believe that $to "pods" as they are referred to is a bad idea. I will also concede that there are strip mall high schools, my oldest son HAD to go to one. Operative word being HAD to, it's where problem children go when public education kicks them out. NOBODY in their right would choose to go to one of these way stations.

Some knuckle d**gging choices from 2019 poll, no current poll that I found:

Demographic Support for School Choice Remains Strong:
Support for school choice is broad across numerous demographic categories.

Latinos: 73%
W****s: 68%
African Americans: 67%

Millennials: 75%

Parents and grandparents: 72%

Rural/Exurban V**ers: 68%
Suburban V**ers: 64%

Republicans: 80%
Independents: 69%
Democrats: 56%

Could you please specify which are knuckle d**gging children, I wouldn't want to confuse them with non-knucle d**ggers!

For those who are able ... home school, Home School, HOME SCHOOL. If you can't, then private schools are often a good option. Americans need to get their children ot of the public schools as much a is possible. If you can't, then you need to carefully inspect every assignment and every textbook . and be active in the PT A and school boards. And if the school boards won't listen to the parental concerns ,elect new board members who will. The children belong to the PARENTS and not to the teachers or government. Sometimes our elected officials forget they are employed by the tax-paying public.

Each student will have a voucher to go to any school they want. Anywhere. They are not stuck in worthless public schools how come they can’t use their in religious schools?

Parents are finally waking up to this subterfuge and are starting to act. Unfortunately, for one parent, she didn't find out what was going on until a year after the incident. Her child is now traumatized and she's suing.
