Actually. many years earlier there was talk of Russia entering NATO and forming a real strong defensive alliance across the top of the globe. The west dismissed it. If they hadn't, we probably wouldn't be in this position we are in right now. The west has gone over board over the years to keep Russia as an enemy so they could continue to build up their militaries and spend our money, instead of building up friendships and investing our money on our future.
