We all have a belief system. That consists of believing that if we take certain actions then certain outcomes will result. When that belief system is bucked by reality we are likely going to be upset. Joe's belief system has been seriously shaken. He thought that pursuing his g***n e****y and Marxist Economic Policies would cause peace and prosperity in all the land.

He thought his biggest problem would come from right wing fanatics who would sabotage his policies, but that if he could only defeat those right wing fanatics, he would have great success as President. Well he has defeated those right wing fanatics and gotten his policies going pretty well, but success has not happened.

So what conclusions has Joe drawn by these massive failures ? He has concluded that his policies have not worked because indeed his right wing enemies have blocked his policies enough that they have failed. Instead of reconsidering that his policies were successfully put into action, but failed on their own merits. He is convinced there was nothing wrong with his ideas, and his enemies are to blame for his policy failures. That makes for quite a sour puss.
