I have been thinking about the controversies around social media sites and banning of conservatives for "h**e speech", "misinformation" and the like. My question is, why have social media sites taken on the role of speech police? If there is something wacky posted, like manifestos, plans for terror attacks, wh**ever, why not just inform law enforcement and let it ride to help law enforcement ID the suspects? Are social media sites in fact actual government agencies? Like so many narratives that perpetuate and grow, social media's role in law enforcement makes no sense.
