I have a solution. Lets quit cooking our food, driving our cars, ground our trucking industry and quit heating and air conditioning our homes. We'll starve the bastards.

One of the comments on that article is, 'The Saudis probably sent FJB a thank you card'.

You have a good point, assuming that somebody is buying their oil. Since the US and Europe are banning Russian oil, they must be selling it to somebody. I speculate that Russia and Saudi Arabia might have traded customers. Oil, like water flows in it's easiest path. Europe must seek new supplies and pay what ever the market wants. That likely draws middle east oil away from South America and Asia, who then might get Russian oil at a discount.

Oil tankers can pretty much be rerouted anywhere in the World. Russia's Natural Gas won't be so easy to reroute because it is flows through pipelines into mostly Europe. Pipelines to China will take time to build.

The Russian-Ukraine War is not going according to anyone's predictions. The West thought it could stop Putin economically and so far that has failed. Paradoxically nobody expected Russia's military to fail so badly in overrunning Ukraine.

I'm not sure yet who is benefiting from the Russia Ukraine stalemate. Somebody always benefits from war. Russians and Ukrainians are dying in large numbers so they aren't the beneficiaries. The US gets to use Ukraine as a surrogate to fight Russia without losing any troops., and gets to test it's weapons in real combat. The downside is the US is depleting it's stockpiles of advanced munitions, that we might need if China moves on Taiwan in the near future.
