Gee, what a shame. Hope the POS asks for forgiveness before he hopefully croaks.

Does he get to go to heaven just because he asks for forgiveness?

Obviously, the sooner the better. Not sure he has enough time to repent his long list of indiscretions.

Probably not. Whether someones repentance or forgiveness is heartfelt is above my pay grade. Only one entity makes that determination.

Yeah, you have a great disposition and temperament and know how to keep things in "check". Something, I need to work on.

I have a feeling you may be the only one that’s ever said that about me. LOL.

It's just so easy for you to be an arshloch (grmn) isn't it. So natural.
Do you get to go to Hell for being a scumbag, is probably the better question?

What would happen if this took place? Is there a Russian 'vp'?

He would need a contrite heart- that is, to be truly sorry for the evil he has done. It's not enough to ask forgiveness just as a means of avoiding hell.

Then there is the matter of penance. Patriarch Kiril might only prescribe some Hail Marys but true contrition would motivate him to perform great acts of r********n.

Of course the death and destruction of war cannot be repaired in this life. A penitent Putin would likely need to undergo a harsh and rigorous post-mortem purging of the rot and evil imbedded in his soul before he could enter Heaven.

I gather, when it comes to the Catholic Church, you've been doing a little more than "just roamin".

Jesus Christ, Truly and Substantially Present in the Holy Eucharist, is the Source and Summit of my life.

That being said, I am nevertheless a sinner who sometimes blindly strays off the Narrow Path and roams into shadowy places that may be harmful.

It is in these places that I find personal comfort, and understanding and empathy for others that are also marginalized.

What I meant by that was maybe you were a priest in your "other life". You sound like you are well-versed in a theological nature.

Oh, thank you. I take that as a great compliment. But no, there was no "other life". I converted from Protestant to Catholic in 2001 when I learned of the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist. All I know of theology is what I learn from attending weekly Mass, studying the Bible and Catechism and discussions with theologians.

I know enough to know that I don't know very much and I don't stand a chance without Christ's Mercy.

The most important lesson I've learned is to trust in Jesus.
