This person had a great start in life.
Mr.Allen Swift: Born - 1908 - Died 2010
This man owned and drove the same car for 82 years.
Can you imagine even having the same car for 82 years?
Mr. Allen Swift (Springfield, Massachusetts) received this 1928 Rolls-Royce Piccadilly-P1 Roadster from his father, brand new - as a graduation gift in 1928.
He drove it up until his death in 2010.
At the age of 102.
He was the oldest living owner of a car that was purchased new.
It was donated to a Springfield museum after his death.
It has 1,070,000 miles on it, still runs like a Swiss watch, dead silent at any speed
and is in perfect cosmetic condition.
82 years - That's approximately 13,048 miles per year (1087 per month).
1,070,000 - that’s miles, not kilometres!
That's British engineering of a bygone era.
I don't think they make them like this any more!

Things are built to break these days...
This is just more proof that the world needn't be as it is....

That's incredible. What a car. I know a guy that got a car for graduation in 1955 and still drives it around town. What's that 67 years? The car is a red and white 1955 Ford Thunderbird. Still looks sweet
I love that story. Thanks. I even read it to my wife and she did too.
Warning: political rant ahead
That car was made back when conservatives ran the corporations. Now they’re all run by democrats that use Chinese parts and labor and design their products to break (planned obsolescence).
Beautiful car and inspiring story. We can make a better future if we demand higher standards in everything again, but that requires the political will to destroy the c*******t party in this country (D&R leadership) root and branch.
Let’s go Brandon!

You didn't recognize the last one we had. I doubt you would recognize the next one about 35 or 40 years from now. They don't come along every day.

Those are kids that appreciate gifts! Kids now take them for granted!

Can you image paying such an extravagant amount for a car that you cannot take a trip over 300 miles without recharging it?

This, when a young man, was an exemption in his own time. Old soul children are still among us.
It is harder now. A toll of technology.

But if it's a Tesla you can recharge it for free for life.82 years of free electricity would bring the price down considerably. Weather the battery needs replacing is another matter . Probably four or five times. But some guy back East makes an adapter that lets you plug your house into your Tesla and run your house for free while it's plugged in. When the battery gets low just drive it back to the free charging station. This would make the car almost affordable as you can run a house longer then a car on a charged battery depending on your needs..
