CDC...sorry, I know it's been beaten to death.
I am stunned at the lack of clarity we are receiving from the leadership of this organization. I do not blame the front-line workers, as they do as they are told, and are pretty much held under the sway of job loss, and other intimidating factors.
"Heads of" should be competent in their responses to the public. If "Joe the drug dealer" can tell you the effects of crack on a person, then I need to expect that the head of the CDC could at least portray a competent set of protocols in the dealing s with a deadly disease.
I do not want to hear back-door excuses, I demand that this person should output frontline answers, which are cohesive to promoting public safety on health-care basis.
The nurse who traveled knowing that she was symptomatic, cannot stand upon the "I did not know the protocols" mantra: she is a trained health-care professional, and I know that she has had training in the area of infection control. Her actions were dismissive of her station, and she should be given the boot! Sorry, but a level of responsibility has to be maintained in order to promote the public health. We are not talking about a paper cut, here!
CDC and other health agencies need to get it together. Our president, has a cabinet post in the area of health for a reason; he should not be making public statements which are so concrete in their nature. A travel restriction seems an important step, in curtailing the spread of this disease. is this overk**l? I do not know: let's ask the families who are now praying that their loved ones will not pay the ultimate price, for a lack of urgent response to a disease which is internationally know to be a k**ler.
For months, we have heard about the deaths in western Africa. Now, we are supposed to believe that this disease is not easily spread by indirect contact?! Yeah...right! ;)
I will not say that the doctor needs to be removed from his position, but I will say that he has so far, dropped the ball on his public appearances in response to this disease. He should become more cognizant to his responsibilities. I would not want his job, and I think that he is at least able to do it, it's just time for him to get busy in doing so!
Nothing should be off of the table in so far as bans on travel is concerned. If I were on the planes that Ms. Vinson had decided to travel on, I would not be so confident in my not having been exposed. if that makes me a fear-monger; OK, I'll accept the title.
This "Ebola Czar" nonsense...'Nuff Said!?
This is not "playing doctor" and no; Dustin Hoffman is not going to appear and use is tenacious mannerisms and overtly competent sk**ls to save the day. What we need now, if for professionals, all of them, to do what they have trained to do.
Containment is first and foremost to the first line of defense scenario, treatment, and follow up, and continuing education is always the way to competency, and safety. Always worked in the past.
I wonder which "I'm in charge, I'll do it my way!" jackass, decided to go in a different direction?

Speaking as a Nurse, what Vinson did is inexcuseable!! She knew very well she should use precautions in encountering people outside of the controlled environment. Hers was of such callous disconcert that it has led me to Draw only one conclusion. By God I was supposed To see my Mom and try on my wedding dress and I'm going to do Just that!!!!! Prove me wrong.
