Dear Gentle people,

Could you please take the time to spell check your thread titles!!?

As a prime example, there is a difference between the word except and accept.

Truly, it is not rocket science.

Generous thanks from,

A grammar geek

I might add madam, that it is absolutely possible to edit both the title and the content of any thread.

So there is really no excuse for not utilizing the opportunity to proof read and correct any such grammatical blunders

In fact, I, myself, have had to edit a thread title.

If a word is spelled correctly, whether or not it is the correct word,
the spell checker won't catch it.
It isn't a spell checker these people need,
it's a proper education, one without the PC and postmodern deconstruction of language.
I've seen poorly chosen words used in published news reports, commentary, and OpEds, including

affect and effect
principle and principal
capitol and capital
affect and effect
lose and loose
passed and past
then and than
farther and further
to and too and maybe two
and many more.

I think the most commonly misused words are there, their and they're,
and your and you're.

However, misspelled or misused words are not the half of it,
sentence structure, grammar, punctuation, syntax, capitalization have been butchered,
even in professional writing, media reporting, and in classrooms.

It bugs me, but I try to ignore it as much as it hurts.

Unfortunately, proof reading your own typing is problematic, not allowed in some circles.

Thank you, I spend enough time having to read and correct such errors. It drives me up the proverbial wall to see it here.
