When I took political science I learned that along the political spectrum, the left took to the extreme, tended toward Marxism, and the Right, taken to the extreme, tended toward f*****m. Now understand, this does not mean that all liberals are Marxists and all Conservatives are F*****ts. No, not at all...so long as you understand the pitfalls of your ideology and therefore you are able to navigate around them.

So, to all you conservatives, do you understand all the pitfalls of your ideology that allows you to avoid them???

And just so you know, this was sold in the bookstore and wasn't an actual display...

Peter, That question is wrong. There is no such thing as a liberal Marxist. There is also no such thing as a conservative f*****t.
Liberalism started out as the ideology of the new middle class ( factory owners) in 19th century Europe. The middle class demanded the same tax structure and rights as the conservatives that were members of the land owning aristocrats. The two classes were in a social- economic war for around a hundred years.By the end of WWl The middle class won out.
F*****ts are not conservatives, although they needed the support of the conservatives to come to power. In both Germany and Italy, the f*****ts claimed they were out to save society from the c*******ts and socialists, which became the ideology of the working class in Europe. The new factory owning class took the place of the aristocrats, and became known as conservatives. The power of the new conservatives were pitted against the working class.
In the United States, it was different. We had no landed aristocracy. As soon as the American Revolutionary War ended, the industrial revolution happened. Socialism and Marxism never became popular with the American working class, because of trade unions. Today the middle class is defined by the income and property of an individual.
The liberal movement in the United States did keep many of the rights as the old factory owning class. Just as the old liberal class in Europe demanded equal rights including freedom of speech as the aristocracy had always had, the new liberal class, and working class now demanded the very same rights, as the factory owning class. The factory owning class dropped the idea of equal rights for everybody.
Today, liberals are focused on equal and civil rights. The American upper class is most concerned with protecting their wealth. The socialists are not important. There are few socialists around today, and they have no hope of gaining power. A few socialists have found a place in the Democratic Party, like Bernie Sanders, just as people with f*****t ideas like n**is, and some extreme white nationalists like Steve Bannon have found a home in the Republican Party.

You are looking at this wrong, I am speaking strictly from the perspective of ideology. Do you think Bernie didn't start out as a progressive liberal which led him to the socialist programs he seeks today? That liberalism tends towards socialism doesn't mean that all liberals want to be socialists. By 'tend' I mean propensity or a movement towards something. The end product can be a few people or the majority as with today's conservatives who seek an authoritarian, nationalist, and r****t system of government! Why do you think that they reject the idea that we are a Democracy or that Donald Trump became such a hero to them as quickly as he did? Trump came in on the mantra of r****m by singing the song of Obama's birth certificate and that Muslims MUST be stopped from entering our country! That's how Trump was vetted as okay by the standards that today's conservatives hold.

All of this is Ideology (how we think politically) and can be looked up in any text on political science on any college campus in America. The single biggest difference between liberals and conservatives is that liberals (generally) can see the pitfalls in their ideology; whereas conservatives (generally) believe that all ideological pitfalls lie in the other person's ideology and not their own. And for the record, we didn't reject socialism--Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid are a couple of examples. In terms of economics, we have a mixed system...part Capitalism, part Socialism...ironically, both of which are products of liberalism and never would have come about if conservatives had been left in charge!
