Saudi-backed president in exile steps down

Having failed to stay in power over the course of a seven-year-long civil war, Yemeni President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi has resigned, handing full authority to an eight-member council led by the country’s former interior minister, Rashad al-Alimi.

“I irreversibly delegate to the P**********l Leadership Council my full powers, in accordance with the constitution and the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism,” Yemen’s former leader declared on Thursday.

He added that the country is now entering a “t***sition period,” during which the Council will have to negotiate a final political solution with Houthi rebels.

Saudi Arabia and the UAE, both major stakeholders in the Yemen conflict, have welcomed the t***sition of power and announced their decision to allocate $3 billion to support Yemen’s economy. Additionally, Riyadh will spend $300 million to fund the UN-initiated humanitarian response plan aiming to “alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people.”

The announcement comes days after the Saudi-led coalition and Houthi rebels agreed to maintain an UN-brokered ceasefire. The truce coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. All hostilities, including on the ground, air, and sea, have been suspended since Saturday.

Yemen’s civil war broke out in January 2015, when armed Houthi rebels toppled Hadi’s government, forcing the president to flee to Saudi Arabia. Still recognized by the global community, Hadi has attempted to regain power by resorting to foreign aid. The Saudi-led coalition, backed by the US and the UK, has extensively bombed the war-torn nation. An estimated 233,000 people have lost their lives in this conflict. Yemen’s war has been accompanied by what the UN labeled as “the world’s worst humanitarian crisis,” with 20 million people suffering from hunger and malnutrition.

I must admit that big it were not for my Yemeni friends, I wouldn't be very aware of it at all...

Of course, neither of the nations I love are involved... And I know how proud you are of America and its track record for protecting the innocent

You know nothing about me, but I’ll share this! I am an American, born and raised in Texas and will die here. I love this country with all the wrinkles, warts, and the many problems that we have! America is still worth defending and fighting for. The last three generations of men in my family have fought for this country. Men and women are still “fighting and defending” the greatest country that has been blessed by God many times over!

I know very little about Yemen, nor did I comment on it. I commented on your ramped up agenda of posting anti-American and Israel propaganda. I did a time line on your postings on the first two years approximately a year/year a and half ago. It was evident that you posted on an app. schedule day after day, every day for many months before you slacked off! You are once again back to this schedule. Anyone can do a time line, it just takes a little time. Something that I have plenty of. LOL!

Unlike you, a 37 year old young man with a young wife and little girl……..with a full time job teaching at an University in China and an active social life. Who wakes up posting on this American forum and going to bed posting on this forum. You average about an eight hour break for night. You continually post intermittently during the day. Many times the top poster for a 24 hour period……Almost always in the top four! We have two grandsons that are teachers with a wife and children and a full social life. There is no way they have time to spend the time you do on a foreign political forum discussing political policies and both past and present history of another country, all for entertainment purposes, nor would either have the desire to do so. BTW, How much time is left for your wife and beautiful baby girl…..are they ever on your schedule? 😱

And then there is this…..I am curious how you find time for research in all that you comment on and still have time for everything else! It must take an enormous amount of time for just the research! You certainly aren’t that knowledgeable or educated in everything American or all the other subjects that you discuss! OR…What’s the chance this information is continually provided for you? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Why would a 37 year old man who supports and defends a vicious dictator and the CCP spend so much time chatting on an American political forum with a bunch of old farts who are the age of your parents and grandparents and who spend their time discussing, fighting, sharing their beliefs……for the most part enjoying ourselves and making a few friends along the way, but who do not see or agree with your view or beliefs of Xi or C*******m.

This isn’t personal, it just doesn’t add up for all of us…..it doesn’t make any sense! I believe you are probably a very friendly, likable young man, who is just doing what he believes in, just like I am. It is my opinion after many hours of research on Chinese Propaganda and reading your comments ever since you joined this forum, that you are part of that propaganda machine! There are thousands that have infiltrated in all areas in this country……many from academia in China! And you are excellent at what you do!

The thing is, we are all Americans and there has never been a time that we didn’t stand together when the going gets rough and we must fight for the country that we love, whether we are left or right leaning! We have lots of problems here in America, we just don’t agree what they are, but that’s OK, we are still free to believe and defend our beliefs. That is what has always made this country the great country that it is, and God willing, we will always be a great country until Jesus comes and the Tribulation begins……but that’s a whole different subject for another section of this forum. LOL! Only time will tell as to what the future holds for the country that we love. We are in God’s hands! For those of us who have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior, our faith is in Him. Our forever home will be with Him.

Lots of time in lockdown... I only work 20 hours a week at the university... And now it's online...

I get lots of information from friends in other groups... Massive amounts... And I read at a pretty impressive rate...

You should always be proud of your nation
