Imagine this:
You are on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center.
You are preparing for an upcoming seminar while your dog is sleeping soundly beneath your desk.
It is a day like any other office day. The same hustle-bustle.
At first, nothing seems to be wrong.
But, soon, muffled explosions could be heard reverberating around the walls of the building. Tremors shook the building.
There's chaos everywhere. No one knows what happened.
You have only one thing in your mind:- Evacuate.
Moreover, you are visually impaired.
Smoke everywhere — Panic spreading at a hellish speed.
You are stuck in a do-or die-situation.
Your heart is beating almost a zillion times faster. Your soul is gripped by fear.
Only, Roselle, your guide dog capitalizes on a chance to prove it otherwise.
You and Roselle worked as a team and helped save the lives of 30 others as the group descended 78 flights of stairs.
Roselle brought all of the people out amidst the thick smoke.
You had barely exited the building when the second tower collapses.
A massive cloud of debris and dust suddenly engulfs everyone.
You are struggling to breathe — possibly, a few moments away from a fiendish end.
Amid the chaos and rubble, Roselle bravely brings everyone to safety.
This was the reality of 9/11 survivor, Michael Hingson.
Roselle sadly passed away in 2011.
Usually, heroes have capes draped around their shoulders.
However, some have paws.
Michael Hingson, along with Susy Flory, authored the book, “Thunder Dog”.
Published in 2012, the book chronicles how Michael and Roselle descended 78 floors and helped save lives of many during the escape.
