#1...Just ask them with a clear tone of derision, do you really believe that?
#2...The other option is to ask, do you know how stupid that sounds?
#3...Where did you hear such a stupid thing is also effective.
All are effective at putting someone in a position to doubt what they are saying, especially if they think about it and it does in fact sound pretty lame.
#1 puts someone on the ropes as it sounds like a direct implication that they are a moron, probably shouldn't go there with someone who could clearly kick your butt
#2 can also be interpreted as somewhat personally insulting, but it has outs
#3 leaves room for putting the blame on wh**ever source they claim to have heard it from
