Charging Stations?

looks like we are going to get hundreds or even thousands of charging stations where the electric car drivers can sit and wait while the battery trickles to full power. Who would actually do that on a road trip? When will these genius electric car designers realize that people may be more willing to buy one if they were designed with a generic battery pack that could be swapped out in a matter of a few minutes. Pull in swap out and go, leaving yours to be put on a charger. We need a battery exchange not a charger. Just a thought.... but we will still need f****l f**ls anyway.

Not only that, they want to put them in underserved neighborhoods; in other words the ghetto. Lots of people are going to the hood to charge their $50,000 and up car, I'm sure. These people don't live in the real world, so they aren't affected by the dumb ass decisions they want to put on the rest of us.

This has already been implemented in some countries. Smaller countries but implemented. Makes sense , absolutely.

Under served does not mean ghettoes.
I think it means …
Red States.
The poorest States .
The Red Ones.

That's the idea I was thinking needed to be looked into, the problem is that these batteries are big, hundreds of pounds...but yes, swap out a battery and be on your way, the swap station puts the used battery on a charger.

Fast chargers aren't too bad, half an hour gets you on your way.

Hybrids are actually the way to go, a little engine running a generator that runs the electric and charges the battery at the same time.

Most with EVs charge over night at their homes. GM did a study and found the average driver only drove 40 miles/day. Stopping for 45 min to charge after traveling 300-400 miles isn't a bad thing. Btw; I just have ICE vehicles. I think EVs are a bit expensive still. EVs are far easier to maintain. No exhaust systems to rust, no oil changes or tune ups.

LOL

Anything of value in those charging stations in 'underserved neighborhoods'?

How often will they need to be replaced?

Why not have both and give people their choice of options, EV or gasoline/diesel. It was always the American way in the past, and may the best one win in the end. Let the people decide what they want and can afford, simple. It doesn't have to be one or the other. The wealthy can afford the new tech, the poorer can't until prices drop. That's the win/win solution. Not force or mandates.

Isn't it that way? Far as I know, ICE vehicle not going away. Some states say they only want EVs after 2035 or so. I think big rigs will be diesel for a long time. I agree though let consumers make the best choice for themselves.

I think fast chargers are 480v DC. I guess you would run it to your house once before burning it down
