They are commandeering leased planes so that they can't be repossessed, but hey, if they make their lease payments that wouldn't be an issue.

It's a problem for the leasing companies. In little time, 30-45 days, they'll be un-flyable due lack of spare parts. They do have train & bus service in Russia. This conflict will hopefully end soon.

Likely they will cannibalize the planes for parts. As time goes on, their planes will be less and less safe to fly. If things go back to normal soon, I think the leasing companies will be wary about new business in Russia.

Agreed, fool me once as the saying goes. I bet there's a lot of business executives suffering from indigestion over these business deals with Russia.

I'm still rather curious as to how the Russian economy fairs when the fighting stops. It's going to take a very long time for Russia to reestablish business relationships, even if sanctions come off. The parts of Ukraine that Putin will steal will need a lot of reconstruction. Even if he puts in Russian Stooges to rule over them, they will still take a lot of Rubles that Vlad won't have.

Vlad traded with Western Europe and the US for a reason. He needs them. Why did he bother to get Western Europe hooked on his oil and gas, as if it was heroin, if those growing economies were all he needed ? Why sell oil to the US at all ? I mean he had " half the world is willing to do that with him now... " to trade with.

The thing is, even more than us in Amerika, Vlad has really scared and pissed off the mealy mouthed Western Europeans. They have been living rent free under our nuclear umbrella and resenting the crap out of us.

Unlike the Russian People, the Western, and now Eastern Europeans identify with the Ukrainians being murdered and having their cities flattened. It's going to be damned difficult for Russia to get those people to forgive and forget. This has pushed Europeans even closer to Amerika, which is the opposite of what Vlad was hoping for.

Russia will need forgiveness. Russia risks becoming North Korea. Except for murdering Ukrainians and flattening their country Vlad did the World a lot of good. He did what America couldn't do. Wake up Europe to the fact that yes evil does exist in the World. Yes you do need to take defense seriously. Yes evil countries do bad things to weak nations. No G***n E****y will not heat your homes and power your industries when Russia cuts off your natural gas.

Vlad is clamping down hard on his people to keep them in line. Funny thing, when you do that, they aren't as productive and innovative. When the shooting and the missiles stop, Putin will have to keep his boot on the necks of his people for a long time, to keep them from finding out about his war crimes. Western Corporations will not be flocking back to resume business as usual. When they try to, public pressure will be brought to bear on them. Russia will go backwards economically.

North Korea is a dung heap because the Kim Family has to terrorize their people to stay in control. That is where Russia is headed. The talented, the smart, and the wealthy will flee Russia, just when it needs them. One of their top ballerinas just left her country to dance for a Dutch Ballet Company over the war.

You have a very Western centric view of the world...

More than half if the world isn't sanctioning Russia... Why can't you grasp that???

Major economic powers like China and India, Brazil and South Africa, are still fine with doing business with Russia... Mexico, your own southern neighbor, isn't sanctioning Russia... Pakistan and Iran and Saudi Arabia and Iraq and the UAE, all not sanctioning Russia... Argentina and Venezuela...Not sanctioning Russia... South East Asia??? Nope...Not playing along...

So yes, the West is sanctioning Russia... But if you've been paying attention, the West has been receding as an economic power for decades...

Even Africa is looking to Russia for inspiration ... What happens to Frances economy when that $440 billion stops coming in?every year because its ex colonies decide they no longer want to pay r********ns to France??? And how will the EU deal with that disaster???
Watch those 14 ex colonies stop using the French monetary system and switch to another.... Ouch!!! That's going to be k**ler...

And do you know who has been encouraging African independence for the past few decades??? I'll give you one guess

"

Why thank you.

I grew up in the middle of the Cold War. The Soviets and the Red Chinese were the enemy. When Richard Nixon opened up China to split it away from the Soviet Union in the early 1970s there was hope that China would over time change into a Democracy and a friend, the way Japan did after WW2. China and Russia are not natural friends. Nixon took advantage of Chinese antagonism towards the Soviets at being treated as very junior partners.

While China has progressed amazingly economically, it is still largely Maoist in every other sense, and is thus just as much the enemy of my Country as Russia is. Neither the governments of Russia nor China trust their citizens enough to give up their monopoly of power, and they sure will never grant them the protections that the US Constitution grants it's citizens from the tyranny of bureaucratic whims.
