I have to say, that I cry every time I hear this song & see this video!.. I was married to a 2 tour Nam vet!.. He woke up every night screaming.. fighting.. Our country has to do Soo much better for our veterans! Period! If you watch this, please pay attention to the text as it rolls across the screen! Toward the end of it, it gives resources to help our vets and families..

We don't Want OR Need another 20 yr war!! Period!!

I only pulled one tour. That was enough.
I don't wake up nights anymore screaming or fighting, thank God. However, loud noises still cause me to jump into a defensive mode. But even that is getting better. I think the worst thing for me right now is claustrophobia; terrible. Prayers.

I'm a two tour Vietnam Vet. And yes, I understand. I went to the Spokane, WA VA for a few years while I was living 140 miles away in Montana. They have and excellent program for Combat Vets. It really helped me. You don't really get over it, but you learn to deal with it so much better. There are still certain triggers that can set me off, but I can deal with it.

Trigger = the smell of the exhaust from a Huey (or any helicopter).....that's the one that hits me the hardest.

Back in 82, one evening I started smelling 'crispy critters'. No one else in the family could smell what I was smelling. That's when I thought for sure I was going bonkers. The next day I looked and found some help, a PTSD counselor. The first group meeting I went to, one of the guys started telling some things he was going through, I got cold chills and thought 'that's my story too'. I thought I was the only one going through this.
