I was fortunate to know both of my grandfathers and got a lot of attention from both of them. One smelled like sawdust and chewed Copenhagen . His fingers were big around as half dollars and he could crumble a coke can into a ball in 2 seconds easy. He could also bend a quarter with his fingers. My other grandfather spoke French and he was the umpire at our little league games. He worked for the railroad and was a telegrapher. Now I'm a grandpa and I suppose the kids will remember me as always wearing overalls and being their buddy and taking the blame for little things they did to keep them out of trouble with gramma. Poor gramma never has caught on .

Bull. She's just letting you get away with it for now. My grandpa on my mother's side was an egg farmer. Before that he was a stonemason and a cabinet maker. He was pretty strong also. Hell, when he died, he broke his back in a fall off a roof at nearly eighty. I sometimes wonder if today's precious little butthurt babies will ever grow into men like that?

All of my kids work and ask for nothing they can't earn on their own. The little granddaughter is the youngest at 9 and she works too for 6 bucks a week. She saves her money and buys a lot of her own stuff. They all grew up watching me go to work weather I was sick or injured. I like to think that rubbed off on them.
