Not in defense of his statement; however, any rational, clear thinking US citizen would have left well before now. I understand the Embassy personnel may not have that option; however, others could have.

With all due respect I disagree with you here.. There could be a lot of reasons they can't get out...in time.Like for example they're sick, or in the hospital, or they're taking care of the family .. So they should die, because our Government doesn't have balls to get our citizens out?

If any of those scenarios is true, they can apply to the embassy and receive assistance... This option is available now...

There's flights domestic and military leaving that area every day, if they don't leave it's on them Just like Americans who didn't leave Afghanistan. Trump administration in February 2020 negotiated a withdrawal agreement with the Taliban that excluded the Afghan government, freed 5,000 imprisoned Taliban soldiers and set a date certain of May 1, 2021, for the final withdrawal. Biden pushed that date out another 3 months and flights were leaving every day in between.
