I just read a study (which I believe was flawed at its premise) on why people pick certain leaders. And the study named some authoritarian leaders, Donald Trump being at the top of the list. I have meant to ask the following question here on OPP for a while, so here it is:
In what way, by what actions, was Donald Trump "authoritarian"? Specifics, please.
I honestly see the current administration as far more authoritative. Specifically, you'd better go along with what they want, or there will be consequences. Severe legal consequences. As in the Arizona Democrat who spoke out about the administration's poor handling of the border, and the VP being unavailable. His office and home were raided by the FBI for "wrongful contacts" with the government of the country his wife came from about a month or so ago. Late last week there was a tiny little mention that no wrongdoing was found. So he either rolled over or made a deal of some sort. THAT is a specifically authoritarian. Plus now, with this administration, we have suppression of free speech, thought and commerce. Also authoritarian.

I am very interested in what answers you receive. Every past answer was one of two things: He did not cooperate with Congressional investigations, or it was he 'intended', or he 'wanted' or he was 'trying' to do wh**ever. I hope none of your answers invoke mindreading and other psi powers. I don't have any.

Me either. That's why I asked for specific actions.🌞

In this case I agree with the Chinese. I can't think of a way President Trump acted authoritarian, but I do see Biden, Trudeau, Macron, and the dip s**ts in Australia, New Zealand and Austria as extremely authoritarian.

Trump used the tools at his disposal, sometimes creatively...And he was willing to listen and explore ideas, but drew the line at breaking the rules...
Trudeau is playing hopscotch with the line

Absolutely agree. I think Trudeau is far outside the law, tho, by stealing trucker's fuel. For many of them it's to warm their sleeping quarters. Beyond that, is possession of diesel fuel illegal in Canada?

None of what he's doing is constitutional... Which is what brought the whole situation about in the first place...

Yep. Don't tell people they have rights under a constitution if you then think you can unreasonably usurp said rights. And, ya know, scratch a liberal and you'll find a totalitarian.
