For some known potentially violent situations I would agree.

I’m not sure. I’d like the no knock warrant better vetted. Let’s face it. If they’re going in sooner or later someone would be coming out.

I agree, problems seem to arise when the police go to the incorrect address.

The only time I can see it is where they absolutely know by past behavior that they are dealing with someone that will use a gun rather than be taken, and even then it makes better sense to pick a time when they leave or arrive at a residence so as not to risk involving other people.

Say you have a warrant for a well armed m*****a type that was involved in acts terrorism that has a history of claiming to be a badass that will not be taken alive, who will take others with him...

3:30 am, shock and surprise, dead man walking if he tries to touch a gun.

Yes...in this country...not surprising that those on the hard right have a problem with terrorists being treated like terrorists.

Or a situation that calls for a knock on the door and an announcement.

The only people that warrant a no knock are seriously dangerous criminals, and that is a tiny percentage of warrants.

Would it not be better to simply wait?

LOL

Yep - it's those 'hard right' judges and DA's that are turning criminals back out onto the streets......

In most cases, there should be a better way.

But if it is a must, it especially should have someone of Lieutenant status going along. For blame and oversight.

What I have a problem with is when they have a search warrant searching a private residence, not for a violent criminal, but just papers and computers and such. Knock. Show the warrant allowing time to read it. Allowing time to get a lawyer. Make sure there is no violent suspects wandering about. Make sure all people within are treated with respect, clothed or allowed to dress, treat kids nicely and never get aggressive with parents when not necessary, and in front of the kids. Even handcuffing parents in front of kids is a bad idea. Then the searching can begin, with one person only, going through wh**ever is necessary, and under the persons supervision to make sure they only search and confiscate exactly what is in the warrant, and not every damn thing in the house including your dirty laundry. Respect. They haven't been convicted of anything yet.

Logically Right

Too many innocent people have died because of the ‘no knock ‘ policy.

My son-in-law is an officer, a trainer, and a swat member. I bow to his expertise. He says the no-knock warrants help keep police officers safer, but there is no question that it can, and occasionally does, result in innocents being k**led. For that reason, he opposes no knock warrants. It makes sense to me, so I am against them, too. It is better to find a different way, or even to increase the risk to a police officer, than to harm an innocent. My opinion.
