I sort of understand his position. I have been asked for I. D. to buy a six pack at 81. When do you start honoring Senior Citizens. My wrinkles are over 21, I have grey hair, and my beard is over 50 years old.

If he had a valid drivers license when he went to get it renewed, that should have been enough. Their own records of well over 50 years of driving should have been enough. If he was accepted for his first license, he should be accepted after that and forever.

It's dumb, I went thru the same thing. Had to prove I legally reside in my home state & I'm a US citizen. Despite being a veteran and living in- state for almost 30 yrs. My birth certificate, with foot print, wasn't acceptable because it wasn't certified by a state. Had to quickly write to a different state and pay for expedited handling all during c***d lock down. Fortunately I didn't by fall for one of those companies that guaranteed delivery with in 48 hours (all they do is e mail you the form). Long story short, got my new birth certificate on the last day (with my name spelled incorrectly of course). What a joke, rmv accepted it. In my state, of you look over 28 yrs old, they don't ID you.

Funny. My 85 year old Mother in Law recently went through this crap. A German immigrant since before I was born.
If she claimed to be a wetback, she'd of saved a lot of time.

To me, it is an ID issue, not a v****g suppression issue. But these types of stories are being heralded as what comes when v****g laws are designed to suppress v**ers.

Exactly... it's figured out, republicans just don't want to admit it's happening.

I doubt any e******ns are going to turn on whether 85 year old guys, most likely conservatives, can get a photo-ID.

That being said, I think that any able bodied person who can't get a photo ID shouldn't be allowed to v**e.

So you're ok with honest citizens losing their ability to v**e because of some new law written to subdue the v**e? Not much of a friend to Democracy are you... Plus it's not about an e******n won or lost it's about denying an 85 year old his opportunity to v**e. What if someone told you that you couldn't v**e because of some obscure new law, bet things would be different then.

Nothing in there about 'some 'obscure new law'. Feel free to point that out.

So you're not up on these NEW laws passed since trump started his "big lie", Doesn't mean they aren't being passed all thru Republican controlled states. Like I said before "it's happening", republicans just don't want to admit it.

for you people who must have your head in the sand...

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/e******ns/19-states-enacted-v****g-restrictions-2021-rcna8342

19 states enacted v****g restrictions in 2021. What's next?
Republican legislators have prefiled or carried over over dozens of v****g restrictions, according to new numbers from the Brennan Center. Also: more partisan b****t reviews.

State Republicans spent 2021 hunting for the widespread v***r f***d that former President Donald Trump told his supporters cost him the e******n.

They never found it. Still, the year was characterized by a wave of GOP-led v****g restrictions fueled by Trump’s lie — and more e******n changes are on the horizon next year, according to newly released numbers from the Brennan Center for Justice, which tracks v****g bills and advocates for federal e******n legislation.

So far, Republican legislators in four states — Arizona, Missouri, New Hampshire and South Carolina — have prefiled at least 13 bills that the organization says would make it harder to v**e. Nine other states will carry over 88 restrictive bills from the last legislative session. Legislators in five states — Florida, Missouri, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Tennessee — have also filed six bills to initiate or allow partisan b****t reviews. Four would initiate such reviews for the 2020 e******n results, according to the Brennan Center.

“There is a continual drumbeat from the former president that the e******n was s****n — this is an issue that state legislators feel pressure from Trump from above and from the base from below that’s demanding that steps be taken,” said Rick Hasen, a professor and e******n law expert at the University of California, Irvine. “So this is an issue that’s going to remain, unfortunately, front and center.”

This year, 19 states, most of them controlled by Republicans, enacted 34 laws that made v****g harder, while many blue states expanded access, particularly to mail v****g, according to the Brennan Center’s latest tally. The changes touched off bitter legislative battles and brought major corporations off the sidelines under pressure to declare public support for the right to v**e.

“What we’ve seen passed this year is more than a third of all the v****g restrictions that have passed in the last decade happened this year,” said Wendy Weiser, the vice president of the Democracy Program at the Brennan Center, adding that the count doesn’t fully capture the sheer scale of the changes because of multiple provisions stuffed into large omnibus bills.

The new laws will worsen the already significant partisan, geographic and racial divides over access to the b****t box, experts say.

So you can't point out the 'new law' in the article.

Thank you
