Court declines to hear appeals from 5 states--Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah,Virginia and Wisconsin--seeking to uphold same-sex marriage bans and paves way for legalization in six other states.

Couples in six other states--Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Wyoming--should be able to get married in short order, the Associated Press reported. Those states are covered by the jurisdictions of the courts involved in the defeated appeals.

Legal experts were digesting the implications of the Supreme Court decision, which would make same sex marriage legal in 30 states and the District of Columbia---a majority of states in the union.

More details soon...

(For you conservatives, this is also the lead story on Fox News).

When I was out walking my dog I didn't see anyone dancing, just the usual assortment of canines, pedestrians, and bicyclists. No gloating.

Conservatives, although they may not realize it, have lost nothing by the court's letting the lower courts rulings stand.

Your lives will not be changed one iota. Not to worry...

It's still the same. If homosexuality makes you uncomfortable don't engage in it. If your being invited to a gay wedding doesn't feel right, don't attend.

It's not complicated folks. Don't over-think it.

That is really too bad. Gays as a whole account for a mere 2% of the population and they're successfully thinking they can re-define marriage for their purposes.....

Jesus, while you were away dealing with your Roman persecutors something else happened. The Supreme Court ruled that corporations are human. Since that ruling there has been an endless stream of congressman taking out licenses to marry the corporations.

Talk about bestiality and crimes against nature..............

You may want to keep that to yourself for obvious reasons.

Brian-agree that gays should not be discriminated against. I still believe that theirs is not chosen lifestyle and that they are born that way. I have known some who have desperately tried to go straight and were not able to. I know many will disagree and it is their right to do so.Good Luck America !!!

Whether someone's sexual behavior is based on nature or nurture, it is none of my business. It makes no difference to me if someone is born with a gay preference or acquires it.

My task is still the same. If it involves consenting adults it is none of my business nor anyone else's.

This opinion was established as law in 2003, by the Supreme Court in its ruling on Lawrence v. Texas. This decision nullified all sodomy laws, taking the government out of people's bedrooms.

It is settled law.

I guess a literal mountain has to fall on this nation before we turn back to Almighty God. I blame the church for this. It's complete apothy. Yes there are protest. There is also much political correctness in the church. You can tell how the last three e******ns went. When atheists are aloud to control this nation and kick God out of the public spectrum, what do expect?

Most people, whether they are believers, atheists, or agnostics do not want the long nose of the church or government in their bedroom.

Most people do not fantasize about a return to rule by the Puritans. Those that do, learn to keep quiet or else become a laughing-stock and fodder for late night TV comedians.

Sexual preference like theological preferences are strictly a private matter. There is no room for the "authorities" in such decisions if the adults are over 18 and give their consent........and there is not a damn thing you can do about it.

The culture war is over. The "different strokes for different folks" Americans soundly defeated the religious crazies whose slogan is "my way or the highway".

Yesterday's Supreme Court decision just underscored that.
