If you believe that the NT contains the words of J... (show quote)

How many prophecies did Jesus fulfill?

The Bible is the story of human history and God’s work in it. The most significant event in human history is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The story of this event permeates the text of Scripture. The creation account shows us God’s sovereignty over His creation. The fall shows us why we need a savior. The history of Israel shows two significant things: 1) the historical context of the coming of the Son of God incarnate, and 2) humanity’s inability to save itself through works, thus, its need for a savior.

The gospels tell the story of Jesus the Savior on earth, and much of the rest of the New Testament teaches how to live in this age in light of Jesus’ work on our behalf. The prophecies of the Bible, particularly in Daniel and Revelation but also elsewhere, show what Jesus as Savior is saving us to (eternal paradise) and from (eternal damnation in hell).

The story of Jesus saturates the metanarrative of the Bible, and prophecies of His first advent are found throughout the Old Testament. Allusions to Him also come up in micro ways, as many people and events hint at the work He would accomplish. One scholar, J. Barton Payne, has found as many as 574 verses in the Old Testament that somehow point to or describe or reference the coming Messiah. Alfred Edersheim found 456 Old Testament verses referring to the Messiah or His times. Conservatively, Jesus fulfilled at least 300 prophecies in His earthly ministry.

So, the question of how many prophecies Jesus fulfilled is difficult to answer with precision. Should we count only direct messianic prophecies? Do we count repeated prophecies twice? How about allusions and indirect references to the ministry of Christ? And what about types? A type is a prophetic symbol: a person or thing in the Old Testament that foreshadows a person or thing in the New Testament. So, while Isaiah prophesies the Lord will offer good news for the brokenhearted (Isaiah 61:1), Boaz lives this out, acting as a type of Christ (Ruth 4:1–11).

The Statistical Probability of Jesus Fulfilling the Messianic Prophecies

With all the religions out there, how can you know that Christianity is true? How can you know whether the Bible actually gives the accurate and correct story of the world?

How do you know that Christianity isn’t just a fairy tale, made up by people to help them cope with hardship and death, and deal with life?

That’s the question which the Apostle Peter addresses in 2 Peter 1:16-21, which we studied this past Sunday at White Fields Church in the sermon titled, “Dawn is Coming” (2 Peter 1:16-21)

Peter essentially gives two evidences for why we can trust the Bible:

Christianity is based on historical facts which had many eye-witnesses
The record of Messianic prophecies which Jesus fulfilled

The Test & the Evidence

The Book of the Prophet Isaiah contains an incredible claim: the Lord God is contrasting himself with the pagan gods which many people worshiped in the form of idols, and God says, Here is how you will know that I am the one true God, and those so-called ‘gods’ are nothing: I will tell you the end from the beginning; I will tell you what will happen before it happens, and then when those things come to pass, that will be the proof to you that I alone am God. See: Isaiah 44:6-8; 46:9-10; 48:5-6

So God himself challenges us to put him to the test, and he goes on record predicting things about the future which will come to pass. Roughly 1/3 of the Bible is made up of prophecies, including many about the promised Messiah, which predicted various things about his identity and actions.

According to one calculation, there are 332 Messianic prophecies from the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament), which Jesus fulfilled.

This is why the Dead Sea Scrolls are such a big deal: they date back to about 100 years before the birth of Jesus, which shows us that the prophecies which Jesus fulfilled were indeed written before his birth, and were not later redactions or additions. See: Why the Dead Sea Scrolls Matter for Christians
Peter Stoner’s Calculations

Professor Peter W. Stoner was Chairman of the Departments of Mathematics and Astronomy at Pasadena City College and Chairman of the science division at Westmont College. In his book, Science Speaks, Professor Stoner outlines the mathematical probability of one person in the first century fulfilling just eight of the most clear and straightforward Messianic prophecies.

Josh and Sean McDowell quote Stoner in their book, Evidence That Demands a Verdict:

We find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 10x17 (1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000).

In case you’re wondering, the Mega Millions had a $1.6 billon jackpot in October 2018, and the odds of winning it were merely 1 in 302,575,350.

Stoner went on to calculate the probability of one person fulfilling 48 prophecies: 1 in 10x157.

In case you’re questioning whether Professor Stoner’s math was wrong, H. Harold Hartzler, PhD, of the American Scientific Affiliation, Goshen College, writes in the forward of Stoner’s book:

The manuscript for Science Speaks has been carefully reviewed by a committee of the American Scientific Affiliation members and by the Executive Council of the same group and has been found, in general, to be dependable and accurate in regard to the scientific material presented. The mathematical analysis included is based upon principles of probability which are thoroughly sound and Professor Stoner has applied these principles in a proper and convincing way.

When you look at the gospel narrative, it doesn't come out with just a resurrection idea. It is not just a sprig of an idea that Jesus rose from the dead. There are thousands of links throughout the Bible. The Bible was written by 42 authors on three continents over a period of 1500 years. We have an unfolding drama of redemption.

You can come up with a resurrection story, but when you come all the way from creation, through the stories of redemption, the prophesies to the crucifixion and to the resurrection, it is all connected in great detail throughout the history - the drama of redemption is meticulously unfolded. The resurrection of Jesus (victory of life over death), is not a stand alone story, it was coming together from the beginning.

So, you determined Wednesday September 15, 2027 is the big day?

I really don't care how you calculated that, what methods of Bible research you applied to make that determination, but what is truly disturbing is the arrogance in assuming the authority to speak God's mind on matters for which only He has the power and authority.

Only God knows the day and the hour; only God has the power of judgement; only God can determine who will and who will not be judged at the appointed hour.

Your big mistake is the erroneous idea that New York City is the Babylon of end time prophesies. Sorry, Roger, that dog don't hunt.

There are some that say the soldier who stabbed Jesus while on the cross was cursed to walk the earth till his return. Some say all that got Jesus' blood on their flesh that day would also walk the earth till His return . It's claimed the spear that stabbed him gained power and even Hitler is said to try possessing it to win the war. I'm sure Jesus blood may have been special. Heck his spit could cure the blind Can you imagine the power you could accumulate by living hundreds of years? Making plans that take decades or centuries to be fulfilled? You are doing the same thing all Christians do. You are cherry-picking verses and taking them out of context. An example is the "crucifixion". This was fulfilled on October 22, 1969 and it literally fulfilled three prophecies. They are Job 16, Psalm 22, and Psalm 69. Christians count verses as a fulfilled prophecy. There are a total of 89 verses. I count Psalms, Paragraphs, and Chapters as a complete prophecy. The main thing about the "crucifixion" was the floods. Job 16:13. "...he poureth out my gall upon the ground". Psalm 22:14. "I am poured out like water..." Psalm 69:1-2. "Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me". Psalm 69:14-15. "...let me be delivered from them that h**e me, and out of the deep waters. Let not the waterflood overflow me..." During this, and due to her mother, the Messiah was dying of thirst and after about 8 1/2 hours, her father gave her beer to drink. Psalm 22:15. "...and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws..." Psalm 69:21. "They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink". Numbers 6:3. "...and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink..." There are three Psalms that correspond to the years they were fulfilled. Psalm 48 was fulfilled in May 1948, Psalm 91 was fulfilled in January 1991, and Psalm 69 was fulfilled in October 1969. The "crucifixion" happened in the Messiah's childhood and it was done to her by her parents. What part of the body fills up with "water", can flood and overflow, and is associated with thirst? This whole event would fill a whole chapter in a book. The Messiah will have a prophetic dream before VWD Day happens.

if it doesn't make a lick of sense, then what do they say? Post it! Yes, I am saying I have opened Daniel 8 & 12 with much help from above. The story is about what is coming. God the Father placed in Daniel 8 the players of WW111 and placed the timing for all of the end-time events listed in Daniel 12 and Revelation 11. plus He gave the words for Daniel 12:4&9. There is a war prior to Armaggedon 3,.5 years before, and it concerns America's great city NYC which Signed into law the birth to a******n bill on January 22, 2019. He has given a 3.5-year warning to the residents of that great city to exodus prior to a given date. Remember the blood on the doorpost? This time you must leave, meaning you believe God's word. NYC is going to be destroyed! Don't think it won't happen Iran has already tried 2 times. All the information is in the book that will lead you through the bible to this event. For 18 years I have gathered the proof to write this book. God sent His own proof of this as you will see in the book as He knew no one would believe me!

I am very well aware of the following;
Revelation,

I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book,

If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book.
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

You, Blade are as sick and demented as Satan, my father. He is called Leviathan the piercing, crooked Serpent and he was Adam, the son of God. In the present life he is the father of God. He has been reincarnated from Heaven because he is the only one who could bring Messiah/God into the world. He went to Heaven to preserve his life. This time, he is going to Hell forever. I wouldn't want to be you on VWD Day when all my enemies will be cut off by fire. Psalm 37:20, Psalm 97:3. You obviously can't provide a response to my post. Proverbs 8:36. "But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that h**e me love death". Psalm 2:12. "Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little..."
