The Beth Israel Synagogue in Colleyville, Texas describes itself as an “intimate, vibrant, growing Reform Jewish congregation that has a lot to offer in terms of religious, social, and educational opportunities for the youngest to our oldest members.”

On Saturday the synagogue member’s worst nightmare took place, a hostage situation.

The Colleyville Police Department said on Twitter that they are conducting SWAT operations “around the 6100 block of Pleasant Run Rd.”

All residents in the immediate area of the incident are being evacuated, according to the tweet.

ABC News reported the alleged suspect took hostages at a synagogue is claiming to be the brother of a terrorist who is incarcerated in Texas after she was convicted of trying to k**l U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.

“One suspect has taken the rabbi and three others hostage at a synagogue in Colleyville, TX. The hostage-taker is claiming to be armed and says his sister is Aafia Siddiqui, who was convicted in New York of trying to k**l US military personnel,” ABC News correspondent Aaron Katersky tweeted. “Hostage taker is Muhammad Siddiqui and claims to be Aafia Siddiqui’s brother. He is demanding her freedom from an 86-year prison sentence.”

Aafia Siddiqui is “linked to al Qaeda and was convicted in 2010 of attempting to k**l Americans in Afghanistan,” Foreign Policy reported. “Siddiqui … who’s known in counterterrorism circles as ‘Lady al Qaeda,’ has been linked to 9/11 ringleader Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and was once on the FBI’s most-wanted terrorist list. Educated in the United States — she studied at M.I.T. and received a doctorate from Brandeis — Siddiqui was arrested in 2008 in Afghanistan carrying sodium cyanide, as well as documents describing how to make chemical weapons and dirty bombs and how to weaponize Ebola. When FBI and military officials tried to question Siddiqui, she grabbed a weapon left on the table in her interrogation room and fired upon them.”

A Star-Telegram reporter Jessika Harkay tweeted out remarks that the hostage-taker allegedly made, which could be heard on the synagogue’s live stream posted on Facebook before the tech giant took down the video.

“Don’t cry on the f***ing phone with me,” a person, who is allegedly the hostage-taker, said on the live stream. “Don’t f***ing cry on me. I have 6 beautiful kids … There are hostages in the synagogue who are going to die. … What are you crying for?”

“I’m going to die, are you listening? … I’m going to die doing this, alright? Are you listening? I’m going to die. Don’t cry about me,” the person allegedly says. “I’m going to die. Don’t cry about me. Are you listening? I am going to die.”

The White House is reportedly “closely monitoring” the situation.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides tweeted about the incident, writing, “I am closely monitoring reports of the hostage situation at Congregation Beth Israel in Texas, where the community is gathered for Shabbat services. Praying for an immediate and safe end.”

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett also tweeted about the incident, stating “I am closely monitoring the hostage situation taking place in Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville, Texas. We pray for the safety of the hostages and rescuers.”

State officials and lawmakers tweeted responses to the ongoing incident on Saturday.

proud, I for one consider all terrorism terrible. Some years ago, a n**i had plans to shoot up my Synagogue in Myrtle Beach, SC. Fortunately he wasn't the sharpest tack in the box. He posted his plans on Facebook. The FBI got him. He spent four years in prison. He has now been released and has apologized to the Jewish community after spending a lot of time with our Rabbi, learning what Judaism is all about.
I am also originally from New York City, so I felt 9/11 as it happened.
This guy in Texas is a Muslim that is trying to get his sister released from prison. We all know that it just ain't gonna happen. Every terrorist in the world will be attacking Jewish Synagogues, and institutions if the federal government let her go.
I also had a relative taken hostage in the Hanafi Muslim attack on the B'nai Brith building in Washington D.C. many years ago. There is an old, not so funny joke that says, It's true that we are the chosen people, but I wish G-d would choose somebody else once in a while.
