I do not understand why the Republicans are fighting the rule change. They are sure to be in control of the Senate soon.
They will then be in a position to do what ever they want if a supper majority is no longer required.
Like make it impossible for Democrats to ever be the majority.

Down the road Republicans would benefit. Democrats will use the filibuster against the Republicans when Republicans take control of the Senate.
I do not see Democrats having a simple Senate majority again in the foreseeable future.
