I think we all knew that Pelosi and numerous other politicians have used their positions to enrich themselves. Inside trading is almost impossible to stop in my opinion. Seriously, how many here on OPP would not take the information they have gleaned to make their own stock trades. Its not like someone can just by a flip of a switch forget the information they have. It is a bit of a conundrum in some ways. I have no answer to this problem. does anyone else here have a potential solution? One thing possible is to forbid lobbyists to be anywhere near or speak to politicians especially when there is pending legislation.

I think you are 100% correct on this issue.. Forget the personalities.. it applies to everyone of the government..
And to think, my wife #1 day show.. darn.... Martha something..... went to prison and served some time for this very thing.. that was real world.. Stuart, that was it.. I think...

Pelosi is just one of many. She uses options to leverage millions of dollars and because of her position can put favorable legislation, benefiting a particular industry in a bill. Both sides of the aisle have culprits that take advantage of this. They need kicked out. I prefer hung, but I’m a meany.

Small limited government creates small limited opportunity for corruption. That is the only solution. The founders knew this. Current Americans have forgotten or never knew.

When you write the rules that companies must follow, or the subsidies or contracts they receive you have defined insider trading.

This has been a problem for a very long time - and it will continue to be a problem for as long as we allow our employees to set the rules for their own behavior. Remember when mitch said he'd like to get rid of ALL campaign finance rules? BTW.........................he did so while we weren't looking.

I completely agree. Not only Pelosi but every Congress person should be prevented from trading stock from inside sources. If you or I did this, we would be arrested and prosecuted for inside trading. Now you know why so many people in Congress became multimillionaires in two or three years. Congress can exempt themselves from laws that everybody else must follow!

Agree . What makes this harder to fight is many politicians don't use the same last name of their spouse. Making it difficult to follow who is doing what .
