Delta variant now fueling 99% of U.S. C***D cases. (All previous variants vanished.)

Back in June, the Delta variant caused a little more than 25% of C****-** cases, according to the CDC's national genomic surveillance efforts.

Now, a particular Delta lineage is to blame for 99.4% among variants of concern. Other Delta lineages are responsible for much smaller percentages (0.2% and 0.1%)

BREAKING Jan 4, 2022: Omicron Variant Now Linked To 95% Of U.S. C***d Cases, CDC Estimates

The omicron variant, also known as B.1.1.529, was detected in approximately 95.4% of all new cases for the week of December 26 - January 1, the CDC estimates, while 4.6% were linked to the delta variant.

That’s up from the omicron variant making up 77% of cases last week, 37.9% the week ending December 18 and just 8% the week ending December 11.

Here, in South Dakota, our hospitalization rate has already dropped to 1.9%,

and most of those are hospitalized for unrelated causes.

BTW: C***d patients currently occupy 11.1% of our staffed hospital beds.
