Beaches along the south Los Angeles County and Orange County coast were closed Friday due to a spill of untreated sewage, according to authorities, and they say it's the largest spill in L.A. County history.

A sewer main line failed Thursday afternoon in the city of Carson and 6 million to 7 million gallons of sewage spilled into the Dominguez Channel, county officials said. There is no information on why the line sewer line failed.

This is raw sewage....feces floating all over the place...d********g. Nancy better get off her heinie and do some real cleaning up of her embarrassingly filthy state...it's a royal mess over there.

What does the Speaker of the house have to do with a sewage spill in California? The Speaker of the House is not responsible for every ill in the US. Maybe the City of Carson should have the blame for it.

She is the dean of California's congressional delegation. She represents the 12th District. She owns a vineyard in CA and she lived there until a few weeks ago, when she moved to Florida....Ron DeSantis' state...

This is an infrastructure failure in her state. With all of the federal dollars that woman has directed to her state over the years, how could this happen ?

We are finding that more and more states have not been using Infrustructure Money for its intended purpose. Hmmmm...
I hope they are tracking the latest Infrustructure Money that Biden signed in November to see that it is used for Roads, Bridges, and Utilities. Every Penny! That is build back better Money, and I fear it is quickly disappearing. $100 million of it has already been tracked to NFL Players Fraud.

A few years back one of California's dams was in bad shape. I think the spill way was washed out. They knew it had to be fixed. They had years and years to fix it. They had a major drought which gave them even more time to fix it, but somehow the money was always spent somewhere else. Then one day unexpectedly it began to rain and rain and rain. I mean with Global Fracking Warming and all, who could have predicted the drought would ever end.

The neglected dam almost failed. They had to do some fancy footwork to stop a disaster, which thank god they did. The point being that real infrastructure like the New Orleans flood dams gets neglected, even when the money is there to fix it.

I wonder how long the money to fix this sewer line was diverted or if it was ? Could have been.

Nancy made sure all the museums and opera houses in CA had a piece of the budget pie. I'd be willing to bet serious money that a lot of that money was "misdirected" at Nancy's discretion in California.

Sewer treatment plants can get overwhelmed during periods of heavy rain. We get spills in Coos Bay some times. I have seen the manhole covers blown off and water spewing 6' into the air when the tide is in and the storm winds won't let the tide out and it is raining an inch per hour..

This isn't just a case of overwhelming rain and flooding. This was a massive leak that occurred in the city of Carson and was caused by the failure of a 48-inch sewer main line. That's a pretty big line! This sounds like something a standard inspection would not pass. It sounds to me like someone didn't check out the lines often enough...but I know just about nothing about that, so I could be completely wrong about it.
