Not everyone is good with vocabulary. Online dictionaries make this rather inexcusable but, who can find the time these days?

I'm going to provide the reader (you) with some handy quick reference definitions and, I hope these serve to elucidate any confusion you may have and, make your forum experience a more enjoyable one.

troll

noun

“In Internet slang, a troll is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community … either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response,”

Machiavellianism (willingness to manipulate and deceive others), narcissism (egotism and self-obsession), psychopathy (the lack of remorse and empathy) and sadism (pleasure in the suffering of others) were the measured traits that theorists believe define the “Dark Tetrad.”

The researchers identified “trolls” by asking a series of questions to find what activity they enjoy the most when they are online. They were then given options like “chatting with others,” “debating issues that are important,” “making new friends,” “trolling others” and a general “other.”

Trolls self-identified as those who like “trolling others” online better than other Internet activities.

The study found that trolls enjoy the sheer disruption of injecting their grief into other peoples’ discussions for the sadistic pleasure (or “lulz” in Internet slang) of it. Trolls were given a composite score that researchers named the Global Assessment of Internet Trolling, or GAIT, based on their responses to these four items:

“I have sent people to shock websites for the lulz.”

“I like to troll people in forums or the comments section of websites.”

“I enjoy griefing [annoying] other players in multiplayer games.”

“The more beautiful and pure a thing is, the more satisfying it is to corrupt.”

The research found that the higher the participant’s GAIT score, the more likely they were to identify with all four areas of the “Dark Tetrad,” but most strongly, sadism.

Some sadists find an outlet on the Internet since the behavior is considered socially unacceptable in other arenas. Thus, the disease model feeds itself as the only acceptable place to conduct covert activity and, simultaneously, the Pavlovian rush is addictive for the sadistic troll – especially when they elicit a response from a reader.

Participants in the study admitted not only to sadistic activity, such as sending people to shocking sites or upsetting the flow, they admitted that the more pure and beautiful something is (such as a site dedicated to an inspiring story about a child), the more satisfaction they get from corrupting it – which is also considered a common thinking pattern among child rapists and murderers.

Participants also disclosed another point: They would rather act out and get their sadistic satisfaction on the Internet, where they get in less trouble for it than they would if they did so publicly.

The activities of the trolls are not always harmless, even when they are anonymous. Suicides and other emotional traumas have been linked to trolls, especially in situations involving already emotionally vulnerable bloggers or commenters.

Most abusers online are males, and most of those trolled are female.

The trolls, sadists and, other mentally unbalanced sociopaths on here, are quick to point out that Christians should act like Christ and are therefore, precluded from calling a spade a spade. I agree, calling one a f*ucking shovel might not be nice but, WWJD? For the NonGod fearing that's, "What Would Jesus Do"?

Here's seven examples of the above...

1. Ye blind guides (Matt. 23:16).

2. Ye fools (Matt. 23:17). (One of my personal favorites)

3. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees…for ye are like whited supulchres…full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness (Matt. 23:27).

4. Ye serpents (Matt. 23:33). (My runner up)

5. Ye generation of vipers (Matt. 23:33).

6. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! (Luke 11:44).

7. Ye are as graves which appear not (Luke 11:44).

You be the judge, it never stopped anyone from doing THAT before on here...

Who am I you ask? I am a conservative Christian (emphasis on Christian) by definition but, liberal enough to keep an open mind, providing any new ideas or opinions don't conflict with or contradict my moral code as defined by God's Word, not man's religion!

I p***e myself on keeping traditions, God's not man's but, am more than willing to beat on anybody quite liberally when you hold or treat what I value with contempt.

Jesus Christ was known for His table turning sk**ls. I follow His example religiously and, will turn them on anybody who wants to insult my values, me personally or, if I see you are berating or insulting a friend of mine on here, I will treat you like I would any troll and, that might become unpleasant for you, if not a journey in self-discovery.

I really hoped this helped someone. I wanted to prove vocabulary can be illuminating, elucidative and, just plain fun. It guess it all really depends on how one defines FUN... I know how I do and, so will you if you're a player, that just plain sucks at vocabulary!

Very clear, informative, elucidating and hilarious. Wonder what kind of comments you will get from the left, my friend.

I lived in Idaho, when I went to Nuclear Power School at INEL. Idaho was one of the most favorite places I lived in my entire life. I lived in Idaho Falls, I think the address was 14th and Curtis. I lived very close to downtown.

Do you live close to Idaho Falls? I'm really not that entirely familiar with any place else. In the 6 months I lived in Idaho, I went to Yellowstone and went skiing, when I had time off.

When I have driven cross country, I always stop in Idaho and go through Montana and South Dakota on my way back to Michigan.

Thank you for your kind comments no prop, was I clear enough is my question? I have laid my cards upon the table, so that ruled out me being very Machiavellian, I defaulted to conservative Christain, my second choice but, nevertheless a nice one too.

I suppose in answer to your question, that's for me to know and, for the trolls to find out...

Is that clear and balanced enough, I know it's definitely fair?

Ya got me DB! Even though I find Idaho a lovely place because it's in America, I'm in Tennessee with my rather rummy personality and sense of humor.

I chose Beer Bottle Crossing as my locale, because on that day I was ripsnortin' drunk and, it made me laugh. Well, that's not totally true, it did make me laugh but, I don't drink. Tennessee is a dry state and, I always obey what the government tells me to do.

You know what Tennesseans are known best for, I mean after their shine makin' prowess? Yup, storytelling. I mean, after you get a snort full, the stories flow like cheap wine at a Jewish wedding! You know what they call people here that swore off the devil's brew but, still tell stories?

Irishmen!

 :XD: :XD: :XD:

Pretty good Rock aside from showing your slight favoritism, Id say you were fair. The troll issue, right on. I hope this does impact some of the troller's to cease and dismiss.

Been to both places a few times myself DB. I never mind the trip down the mountain but, the climb back up is quite taxing.

Favoritism... Me? :XD: :XD: :XD: Would that be for conservatives, liberals, Christians... , wait a minute, that only leaves one choice left, albeit the best one but still. :XD:

I don't hold out hope for trollers to stop their sick game. I wanted this to be like an arming of the average citizen. An APB, letting the weirdos know, we got them in our sights and, are now locked and loaded.

Fire at will Artemis and, thanks!

Morning DB!

I'm close to Athens but, I'm more a hill than a dale man. I haven't been as far west as Memphis, since Elvis died, what's the point?

East Tennessee is gorgeous and, thanks for noticing.

God bless!
