When will people realize that spending Trillions of $ on weapons annually, and providing Billions of $ in military assistance to corrupt regimes around the world does nothing but feed the military industrial complex, and create destruction around the world?

Just look at the recent debacle in Afghanistan. Are you telling me that all the armaments that we left in the hands of the Taliban now makes the world a safer place? Will a war between the Ukraine and Russia make the world a safer place? Will drawing NATO into a confrontation with Russian a safer place?

Try reading the book "Never", by Ken Follett, and you may begin to appreciate how ego, p***e and sophisticated weapons make a dangerous combination.

Here's an idea. Let the Russian's and Ukrainians work out their own problems. Many of the people in that region are Russian citizens and more closely aligned to Russia than the Ukraine. This is a very complicated issue, and we should keep our noses out of it.

If it doesn’t involve us, if it does not threaten we don’t need to be in it. Let these countries fight their own battles. Now if it does bring harm to our country that’s a different story. And in that situation you move in, you take care of it and get out of it not spending years fighting over it! With technology what it is you also don’t put boots on the ground your going to blow to smithereens!!

Was a time NATO actually did something and was useful, anymore country leaders actually speak to each other and work on solutions or alternatives. They visit each other’s respective countries and in some instances I believe form at least somewhat of a bond if the understanding is an agreement on their mutual goals.

NATO like the UN needs to go.. Neither have any dominating control over anyone or any country. Along with the fact that their missions have changed drastically and dramatically.

Actually, most of the Crimea favors a return to Russia and a sizeable chunk of the Donetsk Province does also. The rest of Ukraine, not so much. Both the Crimea and Donetsk have majorities of ethnic Russians.

I disagree. China and Russia are our enemies. We are fast forgetting the lessons of WW2.
Taiwan and Ukraine need not become Vietnam and Afghanistan, but we should not allow China and Russia to conquer these two nations.
