Cats do cat things....
My wife, in great frustration, asked me why are we seeing all of this lawlessness in the streets and in the halls of government.
I responded by saying cats do cat things. She looked at me quizzically. I explained as follows:
In every social species, there occurs an instinctive search for a hierarchy that leads to the greatest stability within the group. That hierarchy is determined by attempting to amass power. Those who contend for the leadership position take their cues from the dissatisfaction of the group with the state of group security and from the perceived growing weakness of the current power holder.
Humans are no different. As far back as recorded history can reach, we see time and again, battles for power within the group and eventually, directed at foreign adversaries.
As we have become more advanced in social structuring, it was recognized that the constant internal strife resulting from shifting power repositories could be mitigated by establishing rules and training members of the group to honor those rules. That has allowed our species to accomplish goals that no single holder of power could ever have managed.
For the last 60 odd years, we have been systematically disassembling the once acknowledged rules of our society. As we have done so, instinct (discomfort, if you prefer), has been driving us to compensate for the increasing disorder within society by taking steps to locate the power of society where it can assure us of security. Since the rules seem inert, we look for a leader to subdue the confusion and disharmony rampant in our society.
A quick example that should be obvious to everyone, defunding the police (hampering society's ability to ensure order) leads to an immediate rise in crime (further elevation in disorder). Cats do cat things! We do human things which in this case is the same things every other social species does.
We can either honor the rules or we can fight it out looking for an emperor. We still have time to reinstate and advocate for the rules... but not much time.

You didn't say what the "acknowledged" rules of our society were. Are we supposed to guess or don't you know?

They were comprised of two categories; the law and what has defined patriotism since the founding of the nation.

Is there a reason you can't be specific or did you just expect that conservatives would pile on in a bandwagon and you never would have to explain what you were talking about?
Nothing in there was about law...other than obeying it...or patriotism. I have volunteered for any number of community projects and paid for even more but this had nothing to do with patriotism and everything to do with a desire for a good community.
JW, if you don't know what you are talking about then don't talk. Stop trying to dig yourself in further...

Also comprised of one other important thing. Morality, but the Lefty's have long since abandoned that one.

I doubt you'd understand wh**ever was explained to you. But you surely would dispute it if it in any way disturbed your l*****t c*******t agenda.

What I directed you to is a teaching syllabus for junior high school social studies. It is for teaching the unaware children about good citizenship. Obeying the law is one of the acknowledged social agreements of our society. If you bothered to look, it also stressed patriotism. Both are aspects of good citizenship. Both are, or at least used to be, acknowledged aspects of our society.

“Used to be” is the operative phrase.
