As soon as you say San Francisco, you know they have taken stupidity a step further. Many police officers around the country carry on and off duty. There are elements that might recognize them and attack them if they knew they were armed. I go to breakfast weekly with a bunch of ex cops. They carry. All retired. I'm an adult and intelligent and welcome them to carry around me at any time. Never felt safer.

They were uniformed so either they were on duty or at the very end of their shift. However, I believe SFPD, as nearly every Police dept. does, changes into their uniforms at their stationhouse rather than wearing their uniform home, unlike the old days.

If I had been one of those cops, I would told the manager her staff was exhibiting all the symptoms of Hoplophobia therefore Hilda and Jesse's was now under police quarantine and no police officers would be allowed near the place until further notice. "Don't call us, we'll call you."

The uncomfortable owners and employees will be the first to file a lawsuit when a crime occurs and the Police response seemed "unenthusiastic". Hard to fathom the attitudes and beliefs of those in S.F. What a messed up place. If I was an employee of Hilda & Jesse's, I would be concerned that if I needed the police, they might now be a bit slow in their response to help. I know if I was a cop, that would certainly be in the back of my mind.

They were on duty and in uniform. My point is many police are carrying even when not on duty. They work an 8 hour shift. Often 12 hours. They need a break to eat just like all humans. Are they supposed to live on carry out eating in their squad car, or PB&J sandwiches. The restaurant in massively safer with their presence. Many restaurant actually comp cops to come in their restaurant and make a presence known. It stops normal trouble occurring, potential robberies and develops a relationship with the Police if their is ever a need for their help. That restaurant is stupid, stupid, stupid.
