Read "Infamy" by Toland. He believes Roosevelt and Marshall knew of the Japanese Pearl Harbor attack oplan but kept quiet to be sure it happened. He does give them that they expected it to more of a pinprick than the devastation it was.

My mother was in Naval Intel stationed with the WH at the time. She hinted that things weren't what they seemed about Pearl Harbor but said she couldn't talk about it because she had taken an oath of secrecy. The hints spoke volumes to me! Mike
