We usually go " how horrible! ", when a gay man is beaten to death, because he's gay, or a black women is shot, because she's black. How many of us mean that? How many of us would be horrified if a Muslim man was stabbed to death and the defense was " he said he h**ed Americans "? Not many, I'm afraid.

We only consider such things "h**e crimes", if the reasoning of the perpetrators differs from our own thinking. Pro lifers don't consider murdering an a******n Doctor to be a h**e crime, they call it self defense, or defense of the helpless, or something. In other words- justified.

Even here on OPP, the h**e and vitriol is abundant. Anything not complying with out own set of values or reasoning, is horrible and repugnant. So it's no wonder that the hatred displayed by others, finds many sympathizers. It's who we are. We weren't always that way, although there have always been those types around, we didn't applaud them, like we do now.

As a Nation, we used to revel in the differences between us, now we try to destroy it. We have learned to fear anything " not the same", whether it be religion, skin color, or ideology. Now, we consider those who attack anyone " not the same" to be heroes, because we wished we'd had the courage to do the same thing ourselves. If I was going to destroy a nation from within, this is how I would start, convincing everyone in that nation that - different is bad.

I once saw a debate online, I wish I could find the video again but I think it was taken down. A radical Jihadist Imam vs. a moderate Imam. Using the Quran the radical won on every point. By the end of the debate it was obvious the moderate wasn't following his religion.
