Pro-choice activists are celebrating an amendment to Portland’s bereavement leave policy that has made it the first local government in the United States to give paid time off to public employees after an a******n. One pro-life group is calling it an unwitting acknowledgment of the loss of life.

The new policy allows public employees to take up to three days of bereavement leave for an a******n or a miscarriage, stillbirth or any other type of pregnancy loss, “irrespective of whether deemed medically necessary,” Oregon Public Broadcasting reported.

The city council approved the changes unanimously.

But consider that it implicitly acknowledges the loss of life, commented Gabriel Vance, director of external affairs for the group Created Equal.

“What they are acknowledging is that a******n is a tragic loss — that somebody dies in an a******n,” she said on social media. “So, if you’re getting bereavement leave for an a******n, they are acknowledging that there is a loss of someone — that someone died … And who is that? That’s the baby, who is a human being, who is a person. … They’re trying to normalize a******n, but in that, they’re acknowledging that, like miscarriage, like stillbirth — that it’s tragic.”

Three Boston city councilors have also proposed including a loss of pregnancy in the city’s paid parental leave policy.

In March, Councilors Lydia Edwards, Michelle Wu and Annissa Essaibi George filed an amendment to a city ordinance that allows up to 12 weeks paid leave for parents of newborns, recently adopted children, and those who have experienced a stillbirth, Boston.com reported at the time.

The “loss of pregnancy” would include miscarriages, terminations, instances involving dilation and extraction.

Similarly, the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, passed a resolution earlier this month calling for the establishment of a paid leave policy for pregnancy and infant loss.

I can tell you that depending on how strong is your faith in God losing a 3 month old
infant or a newborn takes more than 12 weeks. But an a******n is murder and I would think you could just go back to work next day.

So Parky, I’m betting you are a man. That’s not meant to be at all insulting, it just means you have never had any experiences that would help you understand the physical toll from most gyn situations. Three days toget back in good health seems like we should be kind enough for that. Sort of why kick a person when they are down. I’d be happy if men got three days for prostate cancer. Be assured a woman does not want to find herself seeking out opportunities to have an a******n.
There has been a shocking spike in the number of tubal ligations and vasectomies since the Supremes ham axed Roe. Who would have thought? That is tragic as those procedures are difficult to undo. But hey, if the erstwhile Supremes go after birth control AND CONTRACEPTION, there will be a lot more than a spike.
