I don't think he's referring to the government. He said "The company can increase the wages". And I believe the bonuses are paid by the company.

In terms of regulating CEO's pay in publicly traded corporations, yes...when companies say they weren't profitable enough for worker's to get increases or bonuses, yet their CEO's pay and bonuses have gone up literally thousands of percent over two decades, yes.

Government has no right dictating to privately held companies, but when they are publicly traded and are shifting profits to CEO's rather than workers or investors...the government has every right to regulate where those profits go.

I want government to regulate (dictate if you will) where the profits go...not to CEO's

C'mon Woody!! I thought you might be coming around. We don't want the government to regulate any profits. It's up to the company's CEO's and if the workers aren't happy with it they can go on strike until they come up with a solution. I agree that most CEO's are greedy SOB's but with no workers they are SOL.

If a company can increase it's CEO's pay it can increase it's workers pay, at least bonuses that are equivalent to the raises CEO's get.

I thought you were a businessman?

If the $9 million pay increase that the CEO got in 2020 were spread across just John Deere's union workers, that would equate to a less than 50 cents an hour pay increase. If it was spread across all of John Deere's workers, it would be even less at less than a dime per hour.

Geez you're dumb.

Woodguru thinks it should go to the government as higher taxes.

You should be proud of yourself…. How you fearlessly stand up and show the world how little you know about business and economics. That, coupled with your irrational jealousy makes you a great catch!

If I can hire an unlimited supply of workers with the sk**ls I need them to have for $18 an hour, I will not pay them more.

If you want to earn more than $18, then you need to improve your sk**ls and the value you provide to your employer.

There is no relativity in the equation. The business is operating to generate profit for the owners, be them private or public. Treating employees fairly and with respect is part of achieving and maintaining profitability.

Have you ever had to make a payroll for your employees? I doubt it.

Is it just me , or does it seem like we have a workforce that just doesn’t want to work anymore ?
More people have resigned in the last 9 months than in all of time.
What could it be. I wonder.
Could this be the end result of Reaganomics ?
The result of destroying unions.?
No voice in the workplaces speaking for workers.?
No OSHA protections.?
A why bother attitude when it comes to employment.
Ye Republicans reapeth what Ye have sown.
Since 1980 we have been in a crash dive mode , now we’re really about to crash and all the republicans can say is
Nein ! Nein ! Nein ! Nein ! Nein ! Nein !
The great American party of the workers.
Here’s a thought to ponder ……
Why am I a Republican , again ?
It should also reflect their value to the company ... (show quote)

Because it's a group of people that love their country. They do not work to destroy it with socialist policies and stupid ideas that harm the working class. I******s, Inflation, More Taxes. Forced compliance.
Maybe you love America too?

A friend's dad in Iowa retired from John Deere I'm Iowa.
They, like auto manufactures cannot get the computer chips to complete tractors.
Rather than look employees, they kept assembly lines working and stockpile the tractors to complete when parts arrive from Tiawan I guess. Not they strike... Just wonderful!!!
