Since you complain about deadbeats, here is a list of items that people suffering poverty really need. Please hand out THESE items, or just go pray that the poor be fed.

Christians been feeding, clothing and housing the poor for thousands of years. Sure was nice of you to show up today and tell everyone how you spent a day at the food bank.

As a Christian charity, Samaritan’s Purse shares the eternal hope and peace found only in Jesus with men, women, and children who are victims of war, poverty, disaster, disease, and famine. We work in more than 100 countries, addressing critical needs such as food, clean water, shelter, and medicine. We also help hurting people in the United States, including wounded U.S. soldiers and their spouses and homeowners devastated by natural disasters.

When disasters strike around the world, Samaritan’s Purse responds immediately, quickly mobilizing staff and experienced relief workers to partner with local churches to provide critically needed disaster relief to people in need. No matter where we go to help the least of these, we always go in the Name of Jesus Christ.

We have responded to devastating earthquakes in Haiti, Ecuador, and Nepal; typhoons in the Philippines; and to large-scale refugee crises in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. We have sent teams to fight infectious diseases such as Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and diphtheria in Bangladesh. We deployed our Emergency Field Hospital to both Cremona, Italy, and New York City during the C****-** p******c. We also deployed our field hospital to the Bahamas after Hurricane Dorian. Our volunteers continue to work hard rebuilding and repairing homes for hurricane and tornado victims in Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and North Carolina. We’re also ministering to persecuted Christians, children in poverty, women who are victims of domestic violence, and human trafficking victims.

World Vision is a Christian organization that provides global relief, and development by partnering with communities to help bring about lasting change by tackling causes of poverty and injustice. Their mission is to follow Jesus’ example of showing unconditional love to the poor and oppressed. Some of the projects they have been involved in includes: distributing food to children and families affected by hunger, helping people learn the importance of clean water and providing life saving medication to keep children healthy.

Operation Blessing is a humanitarian organization involved in alleviating human suffering in the U.S and around the world. This Christian charity organization gets involved in hunger relief, providing clean water solutions, disaster relief as well as medical care to those in need.

Children’s Hunger Fund is a Christian charity organization that partners with local church’s to help feed hungry children around the world while providing a message of hope.

The Mustard Seed is another Christian charity organization that helps the poor, they provide a safe and supportive place where individuals experiencing barriers associated with poverty and homelessness can have their physical needs met in the short term. In the long term, the process to heal and grow mentally, emotionally, and spiritually for a better life down the road can begin.

Children’s Cup offers children hope in Jesus, empowering them to overcome hardship, and inspiring them to change their community from the inside out. They provide nutritious meals to children as well as life saving medications. Depending on the community they also provide mental development opportunities such as English tutoring and sk**ls training as well as their spiritual well-being.

Compassion International is one of the world’s leading child development agencies. They partner with local churches to end poverty in the lives of children and their families. They believe that by investing in children they will develop into adults that can make an impact on their communities. In Compassion’s program, children learn they are loved, they begin to develop hope for their future, and they realize that God wants to use them to help others. And these children grow up to be givers and community leaders.

It was nice of you to post the list. As someone who donates year round to our local food pantry, both personally and through my home church, plus has given a helping hand at the pantry, your list is helpful and mostly correct.
One question, though, about number 18. Dishwashing detergent is 'very expensive'? I wash all of our family dishes by hand, and I buy liquid detergent at HEB or Walmart. The generic stuff works fine, a bottle last my family over a month, and costs $1.00 or less for a bottle.
Another note: fresh or frozen meat (of any kind) is hugely appreciated, but before you buy or donate, CHECK with your local food pantry to find out if they have the fridge and/or freezer space to properly store it. The same goes for milk or any other item that needs to be kept cool.

Thats a good list for all to keep in mind.

Generally many drop off points don’t have refrigeration for perishable items.

Giving someone food is a temporal thing that will feed their belly and last for a day. Feeding their soul with the gospel of Jesus Christ will feed their soul and last for eternity.

Kitten, I have worked at the local community which feeds people twice a day. From what I see, most of their food comes from restaurants and food markets. The food donations are mostly food that is near expiration.

I see a lot of that, as well. Not that there is anything wrong with it, because I would much rather the local grocery stores donate nearly expired food than throw it out. However, some has to be thrown out by the local food pantry here in my town because people clean out their shelves of long expired goods, and seem to think they are being 'kind' when they donate those items. No kindness there, at all.

I would like to throw something else out, for everyone's consideration. My wife works for the State of Texas. In our state, the ONLY hungry people are those who do it to themselves. There is federal aid. There is several kinds of state based aid. SNAP cards. TANIFF emergency aid. Food Pantry. Individual churches AND church alliance organizations. A county food handout program. Several hot meals served at local churches. If someone, ANYone needs food or other help, it will willingly be supplied. And this is in our little rural county. Our county has less than 18000 people, 12,000 in my home town.
EVERY day people come into our local HHS office claiming to have "lost" their SNAP cards. Often with empty beer cans in their vehicle and packs of cigarettes in their pocket. EVER"Y day people get their SNAP cards revoked for trying to sell them, or trying to use them at beer joints.
Even these folks are helped, but they sure get angry when it is in the form of food and not cash.
The majority of the people are not at fault, and their needs are legitimate. But there is a substantial percentage that are self caused.

And here's a solution to the problem that works . Here in Ukraine there is ZERO welfare. Sink or swim.
Well, what do you know, everyone swims. Whouda thunk it

Some of us realize that the very best and most important thing to do is to PRAY for others! The Bible teaches us to storm the heavens with prayer………….then feed them! Fill their souls first, then fill their stomachs! 🙏🏻

Ouch, TexaCan. That will give the kitty heartburn at minimum and at best flames coming out of it's eyes.
