Now that was creative. ALL my dogs are dumpers, but they appreciate being taken in. And thankfully, (so far) they don't poop on the rug, but they don't like to go out at the same time. So I get to get up and open the door repeatedly. So, did I train them to go outside, or did they train me to open the door?!

Dogs are smart and creative.
My Doberman used her nose to lift the latch on a gate and then lifted the grill top cover and grabbed a three-pound sirloin tip roast.
Went out to check the roast and she's laying on her back moaning with a bellyache.
So you were most likely trained.

They train you to open the door.
I do like the fact that my 5 dogs all know how to step on the floor mounted switch so the door opens and they go outside. The 3 Cane Corsos, because they are about 130 pounds each step on the switch until the Welsh Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier are out the door then they also go out. Then they tear around until all are really tired before asking to come in. There is not a switch to let them in or they would play "let me out, no let me in"for hours.

"Ginger" had 4 pups when she and they were dumped. I found homes for the pups, but no one, (but me,) wanted mom. She is a really good dog, but like most dumpers she has a "thing" for food. My grandson was eating a sandwich and while he was talking to me she sucked it out of his hand and ate it up. He was pretty upset, but he learned to watch her around food.
