These are the Facts, and just the facts.
1. 4.3 million Americans quit their jobs in August, 2021.
2. 235,000 New jobs were created in August, 2021.
3. Unemployment dropped 0.2%, to 5.2% in August, 2021.
And this is what I reckon those facts say.
1. At least 4,000,000 Americans "changed" jobs during August, 2021.
2. Some portion of those who changed jobs may have changed to jobs that paid less; for various reasons,
such as better working conditions, better benefits, shorter commute, better advancement potential, etc.
3. The vast majority of those who changed jobs did so for "Higher Pay", plus some of the above reasons.
Thus: Americans are "Moving On Up".

Many of those Americans quit looking for jobs and a percentage quit because of mandates.
Unemployment rates often go down because people quit looking for work. We have a somewhat low worker participation rate. I believe around 61%.

That does not alter my contention that millions of Americans simply changed jobs, of their own free will,
and in the vast majority of those cases, they changed positions to better their own position, in their own view.
Were that not basic human nature, humans would not be.
Thus: Millions of Americans were, in fact, "Moving On Up" in August, and that is a trend, not an anomaly.

Possibly. Wages are increasing, but not as fast as inflation. So, are they really moving on up?

I love hearing that. That's the best news I heard since before Biden. Lots of people joined the Homesteaders of America and bought land, some chickens, and are growing their own food and having kids. I kind of every them.
