If it wasn't for Chritopher Columbus, we might not have United States of America...

Christopher Columbus had nothing, nothing to do with the establishment of the US.

One can't 'discover' lands that were already populated. He may have made contact with the Caribs and other islanders, but discovery....not so much. The Norsemen had already made it to Newfoundland. There's some evidence that Polynesians hit the coast of S. America.

If telling the t***h about the relations of the Europeans and Natives is 'trashing'...so be it.

My roots have been accuratly traced back to the 1500s here in America. As long as the fur trade existed my family was involved. I guess in Canada I would be called a Metis'. Here I am a breed. Europeans first coming to this continent came to take and that t***h can never be glossed over. My ggggrandfather was John Clark son of Simon Clark and Anne Waldorf. He built fort Spokane in 1811. His first wife was Kinopitsa a San Poil Indian who he abandoned when his cruel treatment of Natives caught up to him and he ran back to Montreal. Jump ahead 100 years--my grandfathers sister Alice was murdered at a residential school. She was put outside and sprayed with water in freezing tempatures for speaking Chinook Jargon instead of English.

Saying Columbus had nothing to do with the establishment of the US is the same as saying that the fire under the pot is not what makes the water boil. His voyage of discovery was an influence.
