I remember reading about Ivermecten as a medication to treat livestock, has anyone you know used it for that purpose?

Thats what I thought, but I do know that several dog breeders have used it successfully for their large breed dogs. However, the manufacturer does not make much money by selling it as a livestock medication, assuming that it is the same drug, and there is money to be made on human medications.

You can get it at stores that sell farming equipment and/or dog and cat supplies (such as Country Max, etc.) Here's the one we have...recommended to us by a nurse we know.... But you should know that it is not suggested for human use, and you should not use it until you can find someone who can approve it for you....

EDITED TO ADD...I meant to say, you should not use it until you can find someone who can advise you how to use it safely....not "approve" it....

My wife is a bird and reptile specialty veterinarian, she uses it for birds and reptiles...it's an anti parasite for worms and mites, it would be something that could help as an adjunct therapy

Used it for years for heartworm preventative and for k*****g some parasites and some mites. Never heard of anyone using it as an antibiotic

Its safe for most dogs and easy to use. However look for it to someday be taken off the shelf because vets don’t want people to do anything without consulting them.
