We've had discussions on increasing minimum wage, that hasn't been significantly increased in two decades, and people still do not support it, yet complain about people being on the system.
Meanwhile, people who do work above minimum wage from $10.00, to $15.00 dollars an hour still can't even afford a simple one bedroom apartment, they still have to earn enough to also include, utilities, food, health, insurance, a car, etc., so someone tell me, how are they supposed to be able to afford to live as an individual? What is the real minimum people must earn in order to obtain a decent life?
This isn't even addressing people with children! So someone tell me please, tell me how is this made to be possible, are we already a third world country and just don't know it? Has anyone looked at the numbers of people now homeless? Which are for the reasons being I've just stated.
My reason for this post is for all of us to become more aware of what is truly happening here in America. Has pure capitalism really worked? Is capitalism only about making a profit and exploiting its employees, or does it include taking care of their employees, especially with retirement, and with paying enough to give them a decent quality of life? Things have gotten steadily worse as large corporations hold the reins, with monopolies and oligopolies, manipulating how our government works and how Americans live. These giant self serving monstrosities have for the most part excluded the human condition, with their concern only being for their share holder.
I don't want to hear blame, I'd like to hear suggestions on resolve, how can we fix ourselves, because we are definitely broken.
I would like to say I'm surprised by the zero response, but I'm really not, and the funny thing is that this information benefits us all to know.
