A fun history fact. In mid-July of 1599 the Spanish Armada sailed for England. By August 8, 1588 It had been pushed northward and was not longer a threat. I like to celebrate 8-8-88 because it is so easy a date to remember.

If I did not try to obey the rules of my Church I would probably try grog but not dilute it with water so the drink actually would be straight rum.

Worst date! That was a Thursday. I had to go to court for my one and only dwi.

Looking like that day has been a bad day for many. Perhaps American Vet is the one who has the best idea for celebrating that day.

In May 1588, after several years of pr********n, the Spanish Armada set sail from Lisbon under the command of the Duke of Medina-Sidonia. When the 130-ship fleet was sighted off the English coast later that July, Howard and Drake raced to confront it with a force of 100 English vessels

You are correct, I erred when I typed the year. The Spanish did start in May but Drake set fire ships onto them in Cadiz which delayed and then storms delayed causing the ships to reach England in July.
