How about that Suni Lee....
While much of America was crying with a certain ailing gymnast dropping out of 2 events, a tiny Hmong lady from Minnesota stepped up and filled the role..
So today is Suni Lee day in Minnesota, the beloved young lady who has been overlooked by much of the press, she is indeed the poster girl for wonderful minority member, loving American and representing our country all the way to the Gold medal...
From the days she practiced on a home made 2 x 4 beam in her back yard, to the wonderful performance for the Gold, she is a shining example of both hard work and the American dream..
So clap your hands and halt the crying over the down side for any other young lady, give Suni a big cheer..
also a reminder, the Hmong are perhaps the most well adjusted of all the emigrants we have sheltered over the decades... great Americans ... great examples of what emigrants bring to our country..

Did she sneak in illegally? Has she broken the law? Law abiding, legal immigrarnts are welcome. Illegal ones who break the law should not be.
The first Hmong to win a medal, they deserve a medal for their help in viet nam.

Proof that assimilation DOES work.
I stayed up late to see her performance. She won because she made only a few minor mistakes. Her time on the uneven bars was spectacular. I loved seing her whole neighborhood in Minnasota cheering for her. I bought some Hmong embroidery in the late seventies. They do exquisite work.

She was born in Minnesota. Her parents were part of the Hmong rescued from Nam after the politician lost that war for us..
She is a great model for immigration, even if we ignore the gymnastics and metal..
