'A bridge too far': Enraged House Republicans demand Kevin McCarthy punish Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger

House Republicans are pushing Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to punish Reps. Adam Kinzinger and Liz Cheney — by revoking their other committee assignments or reprimanding them — as punishment for serving on a select committee investigating the J*** 6 i**********n.

CNN reports that the push to punish Cheney and Kinzinger gained steam Sunday after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi appointed Kinzinger to serve on the select committee — and he accepted.

"Initially, most rank-and-file Republicans were content to let Cheney serve without much of a fight, but Kinzinger's addition has changed the conversation and has put a new level of pressure on McCarthy," the network reports. "While the loudest cries have come from members of the hard-right Freedom Caucus, sources say that the sentiment has started to spread beyond the hard-line crew."

One GOP member said "there's a lot" of Republicans behind the push, adding that "supporting Pelosi's unprecedented move to reject McCarthy's picks was a bridge too far."

Another added: "Plenty of people wondering the same things. If they are accepting appointments from Nancy Pelosi rather than the GOP, haven't they already effectively left? Perhaps they should ask Speaker Pelosi for committee assignments?"

Pelosi appointed Kinzinger to the select committee, which is scheduled to meet for the first time this week, after rejecting two of McCarthy's picks, Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana and Jim Jordan of Ohio. McCarthy responded by pulling his other se******ns.

CNN notes that while McCarthy could theoretically remove Cheney and Kinzinger from their other committees, Pelosi could then simply reappoint them since, as speaker, she controls committee membership.
"It would speak volumes if he took away their committee assignments for upholding their oath to protecting our democracy," Kinzinger spokeswoman Maura Gillespie said.

Pelosi only wants people on the commission who will follow her predetermined outcome so she kicks off anyone who might speak otherwise and you hypocritically accuse the GOP of stopping free speech.

Why did the republicans reject a bipartisan independent Comission?

It is Pelosi who rejected it. Having dem's in repug disguise is not bipartisan. Bipartisan means that each party gets to choose their own people for the commission. This you know and this you reject. L*****t.

We really need a bipartisan investigation of the J** 6 insurection. We didn't need a rabid Trump supporter like the nut job from Ohio. Remember, we had an insurection. That is poeple who wanted to over throw the government, storming the Capitol.

They didn't, they rejected a "Pelosi set the narritive with pre determined outcome" commission. Is it OK with you for the Republicans to decide who can represent you on a commission?

No, she passed a bill empowering a bi partisan independent commission to the senate where republicans k**led it with the filibuster. She only rejected two republicans from the select committee who are nothing but clowns sent to create a circus atmosphere.

The dumb thing with this "commission" is that we ALL know what happened on J** 6. The hope of the democrats is to have a republican bashing shownothing more. You want to know more about what happened, then get the FBI to tell us what they have on it from the guys they have been holding all this time adn reveal the entirety of their investigation. It's not like it should be classified, is it?? Unless, of course, it shows the true nature of that day and the role of the dems in it, of course!

yeah, she already has her own clowns on the commission, why would she want clowns with brains when she could have democrats?

And McCartney wants the same, people who will protect the trump lie about the e******n and i**********n. Just how is Pelosi blocking free speech? the people she refused to seat are still carrying on the big lie just like before they were rejected. Hypocrites? Kinda like hiring a private company, The Cyber Ninjas, who's owner, Doug Logan, donated money and posted on twitter without evidence before being hired that there was fraud, to do an audit of Arizona's v****g outcomes. I'm guessing they want names of democratic v**ers so those v**ers can be purged from the records before 2022.

No, sorry dude, she shouldn't be able to reject any republican, else it's not bipartisan. Why do you think we would want them on the commission to begin with?

Think. Because they have been and would ask the correct questions which Pelosi wants to avoid, that's why. Thus it is NOT bipartisan; bill or no bill. Do you honestly not see that? Stop the BS act pretending this is going to be bipartisan. We know better and so do you.
