This is a misstatement and taken out of context. The words actually uttered by Slo Joe Bribem were, "I dare you to deny me C*******m." The Pope, from the Vatican, issued a statement that both he and Slo Joe should never be denied their practice of C*******m.

'Oh...Yeaah....."The Pope".....I guess the 16th century, was "NOT", the most corrupt "Pope's"...ever?
Since when are the Catholic Pope's considered to be "political", & religious leaders at the same time? Pope: "STAY CLEAR OF POLITICS, LEST YE BE JUDGED, BY OUR FATHER"!
Anyone that promotes A******n, should be denied Communion....{ unless they openly repent that heinous sin}..."TO THE WORLD"

" “Instead of denying God to Catholic human beings who disagree with your political views, you should be inviting everyone to God’s table. "
Interesting way to frame the k*****g of unborn babies as merely a political difference of opinion. I suppose one could look at Mao's or Stalin's murders as political differences of opinion.

They need to focus on holding accountable the clergy members who have buggered and abused children before trying to force members in politics to foist church teachings on those outside the faith.

"When 69% of American Catholics don’t believe in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, and 59% support a******n, . . ."
You can buy all the raw supplies on Amazon. And anyone could gesture and pray the special words to complete the magic spell for themselves. For communion. Haven't checked for a******n.
The main magic is not to make people believe c*****rs and wine are actual human flesh and blood. The important step is to convince someone to substitute faith for fact.
It's interesting that many people in many churches downplay this key doctrinal belief due to communicant's sqeamishness. I have had 'Cradle Catholics' argue that the Doctrine of T***substantiation is strictly metaphorical when I called it cannibalism.
As for the a******n issue, don't the babies' purported souls go straight to heaven, with a possible short (compared to eternity) stopover in Limbo, unless Limbo has been cancelled... I haven't kept up with the memos since my priest told me that if my atheism springs from honest doubt, God will be sure to provide confirmation as I honestly explore it. In essence, he thought my disbelief as eqivalent to the attitude of, "I'm just waiting on the Lord!"
I told him he was putting words in my mouth that feel uncomfortable. He claimed the discomfort was God trying to keep my attention....
We don't speak much anymore. If God is working on me directly, a confused priest seems superflous.

The topical quote was actually uttered by a separate, different human being.
"Next time I go to Church, I dare you to deny me Communion," U.S.
Congressman Ted Lieu, a Democrat of California, and a Catholic, with a massive 1.6 million followers on Twitter, threatened the Bishops.

One could look at the Old Testament's handling of the issue. Mosaic Law requires monetary restitutiontion, as if for lost property, for the loss of life of the fetus, but blood vengeance, eye for eye, for the life of the mother, in the event a pregnant woman suffers an aggressive assault by a person or their agent or property (ox goring was a huge problem in those days, it seems.)

You are talking about justifying cutting life short. The unborn can be quite inconvenient. If aborted souls go straight to Heaven what a great way to rationalize removing an inconvenience from one's life.
Pro Lifers do not allow themselves to engage in that type of rationalization.

We have seen a few rabid pro life (married) congressmen insist their girlfriends get a******ns. The whole question boils down to whose bull is getting gored.

I thought we were speaking about Communion, the Catholic Church, and A******n in modern times. That would I think confine us to the rules, laws, and teachings of the New Testament. If you wish to cite Old Testament and Mosaic Law then are we or are we not speaking about Judaism ? In Christianity the Old Testament is taught, but the rules observed are updated by the New Testament. Granted the Ten Commandments are carried over to Christianity, but circumcision and eye for and eye I do not believe are.
You seem to have a greater background than I do in the Bible, so I am ready to be corrected.

Those " few rabid pro life (married) congressmen insist their girlfriends get a******ns " I would throw under the bus.

Emotions exist and can flare in conversations on this topic, but putting that aside momentarily, consider this logic.
K**led enemy combatants might go straight to Hell, the story goes, instead of a further span of days to accomplish their redemption, due to wartime intervention.
Denying someone possible time to gain access to heaven might seem to some more problematic than giving a fetal soul an express ticket.
